Abstract One hundred forty-three cases of carcinoma of the prostate are reviewed. Palpation per rectum was the most reliable single method of diagnosis by physical examination. In only thirteen cases was the diagnosis of carcinoma of the prostate missed by this method.

The 4‐year NED (no evidence of disease) survival rates for patients receiving between 6500 and 7000 rad of external beam radiation (EBR) were 92, 78, 56, ant 50% for stages A, B, C, and D1, respectively.
