Conventional and Implant Oral Prostheses
Clinics in Geriatric Medicine, 1992Despite advances in preventive dentistry, many elderly persons present with several missing teeth replaced by oral prostheses of various kinds. An increasing number of prostheses are retained and supported by oral implants. Maintenance of Osseointegrated Implant Prostheses
Dental Update, 2006Implant-retained prostheses need to be re-evaluated on a regular basis. This should include review of the effectiveness of oral hygiene procedures to maintain soft tissue health, evaluation of the integrity and function of the prosthetic superstructure and comparison of radiographic bone levels at appropriate intervals.

Micro implantable visual prostheses
1st Annual International IEEE-EMBS Special Topic Conference on Microtechnologies in Medicine and Biology. Proceedings (Cat. No.00EX451), 2000Two micro implantable visual prosthesis systems for blind patients are described. The first system is a retina implant which is based on an implantable microelectrostimulator applicable for patients suffering from retinitis pigmentosa or macula degeneration, and has been already successfully tested in animal experiments.
