Erectile response to intracavernous injection of vasoactive drugs after penile prosthesis removal [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
Two patients with a history of penile prosthesis removal presented for non-prosthetic treatment of their erectile dysfunction. The first patient had a penile implant for two years before it was removed and showed extensive cavernosal fibrosis. He did not

The Use of Implicit Human Motor Behaviour in the Online Personalisation of Prosthetic Interfaces [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
In previous work, the authors proposed a data-driven optimisation algorithm for the personalisation of human-prosthetic interfaces, demonstrating the possibility of adapting prosthesis behaviour to its user while the user performs tasks with it. This method requires that the human and the prosthesis personalisation algorithm have same pre-defined ...

Deploying Partially Cross‐Linked Elastomers to Optimize Adhesion for Long‐Term Surface Electromyography Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
A novel approach using partially cross‐linked elastomers with conductive carbon black achieves long‐term adhesion and high‐quality signal capture for surface electromyography (sEMG) electrodes. The optimized electrodes demonstrate excellent skin compliance, robust performance through repeated use, and potential applications in wearable biomedical ...

Control of Separable Subsystems with Application to Prostheses [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Nonlinear control methodologies have successfully realized stable human-like walking on powered prostheses. However, these methods are typically restricted to model independent controllers due to the unknown human dynamics acting on the prosthesis. This paper overcomes this restriction by introducing the notion of a separable subsystem control law ...

Streamlined Inkjet‐Printing of Stretchable Organic Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work introduces stretchable photodetectors fully inkjet‐printed on stretchable substrates. It is demonstrated that printed stiff platforms effectively decouple strain from the stretched substrate and serve as a chemically resistant and mechanically rigid platform.

Use of accelerometers in the control of practical prosthetic arms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Accelerometers can be used to augment the control of powered prosthetic arms. They can detect the orientation of the joint and limb and the controller can correct for the amount of torque required to move the limb.
