Viscoelasticity Estimation of Sports Prosthesis by Energy-minimizing Inverse Kinematics and Its Validation by Forward Dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics, 2024, 1-13
In this study, we present a method for estimating the viscoelasticity of a leaf-spring sports prosthesis using advanced energy minimizing inverse kinematics based on the Piece-wise Constant Strain (PCS) model to reconstruct the three-dimensional dynamic behavior.

Tunable Tactile Synapses Enabled by Erasable Doping in Iongel‐Gated Nanotube Network Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Artificial tactile synaptic sensors are realized by an iongel‐gated single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) transistor with reversible doping characteristics. The device senses and memorizes tactile stimuli and exhibits gate bias‐dependent excitatory or inhibitory synaptic behavior.

The Effect of Custom Made Foot Orthoses Fabricated With Medial Heel Skive Technique on Pain and Function in Individuals With Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome

open access: yesIranian Rehabilitation Journal, 2017
Objectives: Patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) is one of the significant causes of knee pain that results in reduced functional performance.Interventional foot orthotics may lead to improvement in symptoms. In this study, the effects of custom-made foot

Laser‐Induced Graphene‐Assisted Patterning and Transfer of Silver Nanowires for Ultra‐Conformal Breathable Epidermal Electrodes in Long‐Term Electrophysiological Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel method using laser‐induced graphene (LIG) to enable high‐yield transfer of silver nanowire (AgNW) networks onto ultra‐low modulus, breathable silicone substrates. This approach creates ultra‐conformal epidermal electrodes (≈50 µm) for long‐term, high‐fidelity electrophysiological monitoring, even in challenging conditions ...

Prosthesis coupling [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
A coupling for use in an apparatus for connecting a prosthesis to the bone of a stump of an amputated limb is described which permits a bio-compatible carbon sleeve forming a part of the prosthesis connector to float so as to prevent disturbing the skin ...

Model-Dependent Prosthesis Control with Interaction Force Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Current prosthesis control methods are primarily model-independent - lacking formal guarantees of stability, relying largely on heuristic tuning parameters for good performance, and neglecting use of the natural dynamics of the system. Model-dependence for prosthesis controllers is difficult to achieve due to the unknown human dynamics.

A Wireless Cortical Surface Implant for Diagnosing and Alleviating Parkinson's Disease Symptoms in Freely Moving Animals

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A wireless cortical surface implant employing graphene electrode arrays diagnoses and alleviates Parkinson's disease symptoms in freely moving animals. The device continuously monitors cortical activity and delivers targeted stimulation, restoring beta–gamma and delta oscillations.
