Investigations of Intraoral Scan Body Extensions. Effect of Design on the Accuracy, Usability, and Feasibility for Digital Full‐Arch Implant Scans In Vitro

open access: yesClinical Oral Implants Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate the effect of different scan body extension designs on the accuracy, usability, and feasibility of digital full‐arch implant impressions in an edentulous mandibular model. Accuracy was expressed as trueness and precision, usability as scan time, and feasibility as the number of total scan failures.

Monolithic Zirconia Versus Porcelain‐Fused‐to‐Metal Implant‐Supported Fixed Dental Prostheses in the Posterior Region: 3‐Year Results of a Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial

open access: yesClinical Oral Implants Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To compare the clinical, biological, and technical outcomes of posterior three‐unit implant‐supported fixed dental prostheses (iFDPs) fabricated from monolithic zirconia (MonoZR) or porcelain‐fused‐to‐metal (PFM). Materials and Methods In this prospective randomized controlled trial, partially edentulous patients requiring a ...

Segmented Intraoral Scanning With a Palatal Marker for Complete‐Arch Digital Implant Impressions: An In Vitro Comparative Study

open access: yesClinical Oral Implants Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives To compare four complete‐arch implant impression workflows—segmented right/left IOS merged via a palatal marker (IOS‐LEGO‐Seg), continuous full‐arch IOS with a palatal marker (IOS‐LEGO‐Full), continuous full‐arch IOS without a palatal marker (IOS‐Full), and a conventional open‐tray PVS impression followed by cast fabrication and ...

Clinical Outcomes of Fixed Dental Prostheses Supported by Teeth or Implants in the Posterior Region—A Long‐Term Retrospective Multicenter Study

open access: yesClinical Oral Implants Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Few long‐term studies compare tooth‐ and implant‐supported fixed dental prostheses (FDPs) in the posterior region. Objectives To compare the 5‐ and 10‐year survival and complication outcomes of tooth‐ and implant‐supported FDPs and to assess patient‐reported effects. Material and Methods This retrospective multicenter clinical study

Patch Test Reactions to Dental Materials: A Retrospective Single‐Centre Study

open access: yesContact Dermatitis, EarlyView.
In this retrospective single‐centre study of 439 adults referred for suspected delayed‐type hypersensitivity to dental materials, 50.1% had at least one positive patch test reaction, most often to metals. Nickel (23.0%) and palladium (16.6%) pre‐dominated, whilst methacrylate positivity was uncommon (6.2%) and not fully captured by HEMA alone.

Collagen Type VI Alpha 1 as a Regulator of Redox Homeostasis in Antioxidant‐Enhanced Osteogenesis of Dental Stem Cells

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Under physiological conditions, NAC activates the PI3K‐AKT‐COL6A1 axis to sustain redox balance and enhance osteogenesis. COL6A1 deficiency, however, compromises this axis, inducing oxidative stress and impairing NAC's osteogenic efficacy. ABSTRACT Alveolar bone injury represents a prevalent clinical challenge in dentistry, for which stem cell‐based ...
