Ecological and intrinsic drivers of foraging parameters of Eurasian lynx at a continental scale. [PDF]
Our paper is the first study showing the variation of standardised foraging parameters of a large carnivore across large environmental gradients at a continental scale. We highlight the often‐neglected human impact on foraging abilities. We also documented an exceptionally high degree of adaptability of solitary felids.

1989: THE CHRONOPOLITICS OF REVOLUTION
ABSTRACT A failed effort at “reform from above” or a dramatic reassertion of “people power”? Almost thirty‐five years on, studies of the Revolutions of 1989 continue to be framed by these two polarities. However, this historiographical focus has meant that scholars have often overlooked the actual content and character of protest itself.

Response of habitat quality to mixed severity disturbance regime in Norway spruce forests
Our results demonstrate that currently intensifying natural disturbance regime can consequently result in a lower habitat heterogeneity. In managed spruce forests after natural disturbances, we recommend at least the partial retention of biological legacies to preserve habitat heterogeneity and to avoid uniform and dense plantations resulting in a ...

In both directions: Expansions of European land snails to the north and south from glacial refugia
Abstract Aim Were postglacial recolonizations facilitated by persistence close to the colonized areas rather than by dispersal ability allowing for colonization from distant sources? This question is particularly relevant for organisms with low active dispersal abilities and lacking specialized propagules.

This study gives an overview of the status of implementation of photovoltaic (PV) systems among 34 member countries of COST Action PEARL PV. They cumulatively produced 120 TWh of PV electricity in 2018. Influencing factors that have an impact on the implementation in each country have been assessed.

Harnessing iEcology data to uncover invasive species behaviour
Abstract Invasive animal species threaten ecosystems, biodiversity and human livelihoods. Behavioural traits such as boldness, exploratory tendencies, learning ability and social interactions are known to influence invasion success. Yet these behavioural traits remain underexplored due to challenges in observing behaviour across large spatial and ...

Hunter‐engaged monitoring of the Eurasian lynx during the reinforcement process
Collaborative wildlife monitoring programs involving citizen scientists are an efficient approach for surveying large areas. In Europe, hunters play an important role in wildlife monitoring and act as crucial stakeholders in large carnivore conservation. The Eurasian lynx Lynx lynx, an elusive felid, is a species of conservation concern in Europe.

Abstract Uniformly spaced large‐N seismic networks like the Swath‐D (2017–2019), a densified part of the AlpArray initiative, provide unmatched opportunities to study microseismic activity and fault structures. Here, we show how the combined analysis of spatially and temporally clustered seismicity, precise relocations, waveform‐based clustering, and ...
