Coordinated protection of DC microgrids

2018
DC power systems have been investigated for transmission and distribution systems due to the advantages such as improved efficiency, reliability, and simpler configuration, as well as increasing DC-based distributed generation, energy storage, and loads.

Model of coordination for multilayer protection switching

SPIE Proceedings, 2003
Networks add recovery to deliver reliable service between a source and destination. Reliable service is an uninterrupted data transfer between nodes, even if certain links or nodes are faulty. Recovery processes in multilayer networks might operate at the same time when faults propagate between layers during a common-cause failure.

Protective Device Coordination Expert System

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1991
The Protective Device Coordination Expert System (PDCES) software is presented. It helps electric distribution engineers correct miscoordinated protective device pairs. PDCES was prototyped as a component of the Pacific Gas & Electric Company's Electric Distribution Planning Analysis (EDPLAN) system, an in-house engineering tool for analyzing electric ...

Zone 2 distance protection coordination with distribution feeder protection

2015 68th Annual Conference for Protective Relay Engineers, 2015
In recent years, renewable energy generators have been widely promoted in Ontario to offset their polluting counterparts. Due to connection cost of these generations, most of the renewable generation stations are connected to Hydro One transmission system at nearby HV transmission lines.

Overvoltage protection and insulation coordination

2015
The surge arrester at the line entrance must be installed for the protection from fast-front overvoltages. The selected surge arrester in the simulation model has a sufficient performance for the assumed lightning strike and other conditions. The standard rated lightning impulse withstand voltage can be selected from 1,050, 1,175, 1,300, and 1,425 kV ...

Prospects for stakeholder coordination by protected‐area managers in Europe

Conservation Biology, 2017
Abstract Growing resource demands by humans, invasive species, natural hazards, and a changing climate have created broad‐scale impacts and the need for broader‐extent conservation activities that span ownerships and even political borders.

Coordinating Plans for Fire Protection Facilities

Journal of Forestry, 1939
Abstract The author here describes an attack on a very timely and important problem. If a fire administrator wants to obtain maximum protection from fire on a forest unit at the least annual cost, what should he do: build more lookouts? construct more roads and trails? or put more fire guards or fire fighters in the area?

Algorithmic-Knowledge Based Adaptive Coordination in Transmission Protection

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 2002
Changes in power system operating conditions can affect both the reach point of distance relays and the coordination of distance and overcurrent relays. To improve the performance of the protection system, an adaptive scheme of relay settings is proposed. That is possible since the protection relays became digital .
