New imidazole-Schiff base compounds for environmentally friendly anticorrosion protection in industrial pickling of mild steel

open access: yesJournal of Taibah University for Science
As part of the development of a new organic entity, we synthesized a new series of Schiff bases belonging to the imidazo[1,2-a]pyridine (IMP) family, named: (E)-2-methoxy-4-(((2-phenylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridin-3-yl)imino)methyl)phenol(IM1) and (E)-4-(((2 ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Wear analysis of the composite coating in a long sliding time by dissipated energy approach

open access: yesScience and Engineering of Composite Materials, 2017
A wear test of Ti2Ni/TiNi-based coating reinforced by TiC/TiB against a YG6X [94 wt.% tungsten carbide (WC) and 6 wt.% cobalt (Co)] ball in a sliding time of 712 h was carried out using a ball-on-disc reciprocating motion mode.

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Variation of unbalanced force during excavation of arch dam base surface and treatment effects

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2017
The excavation-induced relaxation of dam base surface can enormously affect the global stability of 300 m level-high arch dams. Unfortunately, for Baihetan arch dam, serious excavation-induced relaxation and structural plane dislocation are discovered in

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Sulfonated Cellulose Acetate Nanofibers Induced Zincophilic‐Hydrophobic Interface to Regulate Ion Transport for Long‐Lifespan Zinc‐Iodine Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Aqueous zinc‐iodine batteries (ZIBs) have attracted extensive attention due to their advantages of high theoretical specific capacity, abundant reserves, high safety, and low cost, while the Zn anodes are still suffering from dendrite growth, side ...

Research on the protection range of pressure-relief in the mining of upper protective layer

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2021
At present, the research on the protective layer pressure relief range mainly focuses on the analysis of the evolution characteristics of coal seam stress, deformation and plastic failure and the pressure relief range of the lower protective layer mining.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...
