Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Protective capping of topological surface states of intrinsically insulating Bi2Te3

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2015
We have identified epitaxially grown elemental Te as a capping material that is suited to protect the topological surface states of intrinsically insulating Bi2Te3.

Lithium borates as a surface protective layer for lithium-manganese spinel [PDF]

open access: yesЭлектрохимическая энергетика
The protective properties of the coating applied to the surface of lithium-manganese spinel (LiMn2O4), using the eutectic composition of Li2O : B2O3 = 47 : 53 (wt.) with the melting point of 650°C, were studied.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Improving long-term control of microbial corrosion and biofouling by a novel insoluble antimicrobial enhancer

open access: yesnpj Materials Degradation
Tetramethylphosphoric acid, guanidine dodecyl monohydrochloride, and sodium molybdate can be easily synthesized into an antibacterial material (TNG) that is almost insoluble in water.

Role of hydroxyl group in cerium hydroxycinnamate on corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 0.6 M NaCl solution

open access: yesJournal of Saudi Chemical Society, 2018
The corrosion inhibition mechanism of cerium hydroxycinnamate compounds has been studied and compared as an effective corrosion inhibitor for steel in an aqueous 0.6 M NaCl solution.

Phosphoinositides and inositol phosphates as molecular glues

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol phosphates (IPs) and phosphoinositides (PIPs) regulate diverse eukaryotic processes. Beyond recruiting signaling proteins or acting as structural cofactors, recent studies suggest they mediate protein–protein interactions as natural molecular glues.

Effect of an Imidazoline Derivative on the Protection Performance of Oxide Film Formed on Carbon Steel in Saturated Ca(OH)2 Solution

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2012
The effect of a stearic imidazoline derivative, namely, 1-[N,N’-bis(hydroxylethylether) –aminoethyl]-2-stearicimidazoline (HASI) on the protective property of oxide film formed on the carbon steel in saturated Ca(OH)2 solution was investigated by ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.
