Mutations, environmental stress, and chaperone dysfunction can destabilize pVHL, promoting its conversion from the native folded state into amyloid‐like assemblies. This transition may contribute to protein storage, cell dormancy, survival, and drug resistance.

Abstract An attempt has been made to estimate the protein content of human bile. None of the routine chemical methods of protein estimation was suitable. Immunological techniques gave an approximate estimate of 20 mg/100 ml of bile and other methods employed indicated that this figure is in the correct range.

Information Content of Protein Sequences

The complexity of large sets of non-redundant protein sequences is measured. This is done by estimating the Shannon entropy as well as applying compression algorithms to estimate the algorithmic complexity. The estimators are also applied to randomly generated surrogates of the protein data.

Hydroxyproline content of plasma proteins

Abstract The human and animal plasmas contain 8–14 μg/ml protein-bound hydroxy-proline. It has been shown that highly purified commercial preparations of the plasma proteins contain hydroxyproline in amounts comparable to its contents in a total plasma. The plasma proteins were treated so as to separate any contamination.
