Inhibition of protein kinase C by resveratrol

open access: yesBiochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Molecular Basis of Disease, 2003
Evidence is emerging that resveratrol (RV), a polyphenolic phytoaxelin present in dietary sources including red wine, may protect against atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease by enhancing the integrity of the endothelium. In this study, the possibility that such beneficial effects of RV may arise from a modulation of protein kinase C (PKC ...

Involvement of Guanosine Triphosphatases and Phospholipase C-γ2 in Extracellular Signal–regulated Kinase, c-Jun NH2-terminal Kinase, and p38 Mitogen-activated Protein Kinase Activation by the B Cell Antigen Receptor

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Medicine, 1998
Mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase family members, including extracellular signal–regulated kinase (ERK), c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase (  JNK), and p38 MAP kinase, have been implicated in coupling the B cell antigen receptor (BCR) to transcriptional ...

On‐treatment dynamics of circulating extracellular vesicles in the first‐line setting of patients with advanced non‐small cell lung cancer: the LEXOVE prospective study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LEXOVE prospective study evaluated plasma cell‐free extracellular vesicle (cfEV) dynamics using Bradford assay and dynamic light scattering in metastatic non‐small cell lung cancer patients undergoing first‐line treatments, correlating a ∆cfEV < 20% with improved median progression‐free survival in responders versus non‐responders.

Targeting rapid TKI‐induced AXL upregulation overcomes adaptive ERK reactivation and exerts antileukemic effects in FLT3/ITD acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptive ERK reactivation hinders FLT3 tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment in FLT3/ITD acute myeloid leukemia. Here, we report that FLT3 TKI treatment rapidly induces AXL expression and upregulation that is temporally associated with the adaptive ERK reactivation.

Influenza virus recruits host protein kinase C to control assembly and activity of its replication machinery

open access: yeseLife, 2017
Influenza virus expresses transcripts early in infection and transitions towards genome replication at later time points. This process requires de novo assembly of the viral replication machinery, large ribonucleoprotein complexes (RNPs) composed of the ...

Combined spatially resolved metabolomics and spatial transcriptomics reveal the mechanism of RACK1‐mediated fatty acid synthesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors analyzed the spatial distributions of gene and metabolite profiles in cervical cancer through spatial transcriptomic and spatially resolved metabolomic techniques. Pivotal genes and metabolites within these cases were then identified and validated.

Integrative systems‐level analysis reveals a contextual crosstalk between hypoxia and global metabolism in human breast tumors

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast tumor samples scored for metabolic deregulation (M1 to M3) were given a hypoxia score (HS). The highest HS occurred in patients with strongest metabolic deregulation (M3), supporting tumor aggressiveness. HS correlated with the highest number of metabolic pathways in M1. This suggests hypoxia to be an early event in metabolic deregulation.

Deregulation of calcium homeostasis in Bcr-Abl-dependent chronic myeloid leukemia [PDF]

open access: yesOncotarget, Impact journals, 2018, 2019
Background: Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) results from hematopoietic stem cell transformation by the bcr-abl chimeric oncogene, encoding a 210 kDa protein with constitutive tyrosine kinase activity. In spite of the efficiency of tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI; Imatinib), other strategies are explored to eliminate CML leukemia stem cells, such as ...

A Model of the Roles of Essential Kinases in the Induction and Expression of Late Long-Term Potentiation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The induction of late long-term potentiation (L-LTP) involves complex interactions among second messenger cascades. To gain insights into these interactions, a mathematical model was developed for L-LTP induction in the CA1 region of the hippocampus. The differential equation-based model represents actions of protein kinase A (PKA), MAP kinase (MAPK ...

Cloning of an intracellular receptor for protein kinase C: a homolog of the beta subunit of G proteins.

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America, 1994
Protein kinase C (PKC) translocates from the soluble to the cell particulate fraction on activation. Intracellular receptors that bind activated PKC in the particulate fraction have been implicated by a number of studies.
