Effects of Ultrasonic-assisted Treatment on the Quality and Protein Oxidation of Stir-fried Chicken Dices

open access: yesShipin gongye ke-ji
To investigate the impact of ultrasound-assisted curing on the quality attributes and protein oxidation of stir-fried chicken dices and its underlying mechanism, chicken dices were cured under ultrasound conditions (120 W, 40 kHz) for varying durations ...

Cornelian cherry fruits as a source of compounds that protect proteins from oxidative stress [PDF]

open access: yesHerba Polonica
Cornelian cherry fruits are rich in vitamin C, phenolics and other compounds shaping their high antioxidant profile. The study aimed to assess the cornelian cherry extract effect on the inhibition of protein oxidation.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Cancer‐associated mutations in endometriosis reframe a benign disease through molecular oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review aims to comprehensively analyse cancer‐associated somatic mutations (CAMs) present in endometriotic lesions, emphasizing their biological roles, spatial distribution and implications for translational applications in medicine. By contextualizing a benign state within a genomic framework, this analysis seeks to establish its value as a ...

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).

PANoptosis in the pathogenesis of myelodysplastic syndromes

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PANoptosis, a combination of three types of programmed cell death, is mediated by a large protein complex called a PANoptosome. In healthy bone marrow hematopoietic cells, PANoptosis is restricted by inhibitory signaling. In MDS, bone marrow cells become sensitive to the PANoptotic stimuli due to the aberrant inactivation of inhibitory signaling or ...

Mechanisms and therapeutic opportunities of the ribotoxic stress response in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cancer cells' high translational demand creates opportunities to therapeutically target ribosome function. Ribosome stalling and collisions activate ZAKα and the ribotoxic stress response (RSR), which can trigger rapid, p53‐independent apoptosis in cancer.

Microbial and Quality Changes of Seabream Fillets Processed with Cold Plasma During Refrigerated Storage

open access: yesFoods
Cold plasma (CP) is a non-thermal technology, successfully used to decontaminate and extend the shelf-life of various foods. However, CP can cause quality deterioration in sensitive matrices, such as fish products.
