An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Heat-inactivated modified vaccinia virus Ankara boosts Th1 cellular and humoral immunity as a vaccine adjuvant

open access: yesnpj Vaccines, 2022
Protein or peptide-based subunit vaccines have generated excitement and renewed interest in combating human cancer or COVID-19 outbreak. One major concern for subunit vaccine application is the weak immune responses induced by protein or peptides ...

G Protein Subunits and Cell Proliferation

open access: yesNeurosignals, 1998
Heterotrimeric, guanine nucleotide binding proteins, known as G proteins, provide signaling mechanisms for the serpentine family of receptors. Recent studies indicate that the alpha- as well as the beta gamma-subunits of the G proteins are involved in the regulation of several cellular responses.

Broad activation of the ubiquitin-proteasome system by Parkin is critical for mitophagy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Parkin, an E3 ubiquitin ligase implicated in Parkinson's disease, promotes degradation of dysfunctional mitochondria by autophagy. Using proteomic and cellular approaches, we show that upon translocation to mitochondria, Parkin activates the ubiquitin ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Potential therapeutic targeting of BKCa channels in glioblastoma treatment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review summarizes current insights into the role of BKCa and mitoBKCa channels in glioblastoma biology, their potential classification as oncochannels, and the emerging pharmacological strategies targeting these channels, emphasizing the translational challenges in developing BKCa‐directed therapies for glioblastoma treatment.

Stimulus-Induced Activation of the Glycoprotein Hormone α-Subunit Promoter in Human Placental Choriocarcinoma Cells: Major Role of a tandem cAMP Response Element

open access: yesCurrent Issues in Molecular Biology
The glycoprotein hormones LH, FSH, TSH and chorionic gonadotropin consist of a common α-subunit and a hormone-specific β-subunit. The α-subunit is expressed in the pituitary and the placental cells, and its expression is regulated by extracellular signal

G protein subunit interactions. Studies with biotinylated G protein subunits.

open access: yesThe Journal of biological chemistry, 1990
Modification of bovine brain G proteins by an N-hydroxysuccinimide ester of biotin has been studied. In the presence of GDP, but in the absence of Mg2+, neither guanine nucleotide binding nor GTPase activity of the protein was altered by modification using less than 1.25 mM biotin derivative with 1 mg/ml G protein.

The PI3Kδ inhibitor roginolisib (IOA‐244) preserves T‐cell function and activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Identification of novel PI3K inhibitors with limited immune‐related adverse effects is highly sought after. We found that roginolisib and idelalisib inhibit chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells and Treg suppressive functions to similar extents, but roginolisib affects cytotoxic T‐cell function and promotion of pro‐inflammatory T helper subsets to a

CHO Cell-Produced Truncated Bovine Ephemeral Fever Virus Glycoprotein as a Promising Subunit Vaccine Candidate for Cattle

open access: yesVaccines
Background/Objectives: Bovine ephemeral fever (BEF) is a significant disease affecting the cattle industry. The current control strategy for BEF in the field primarily relies on inactivated vaccines.
