Biochemical markers assessing rate of reparative processes in patients with infiltrative pulmonary tuberculosis

open access: yesИнфекция и иммунитет, 2023
Theeffectiveness of chemotherapy for infiltrative pulmonary tuberculosis (ITL) is determined by proper timing and adequacy of treatment. The speed of reparative changes in the pulmonary parenchyma is associated with the effectiveness of therapy ...

Proteolytic Cleavage of Various Human Serum Proteinase Inhibitors by Candida albicans Aspartic Proteinase [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The secreted Candida albicans aspartic proteinase (SAP) is presumed to be one of the putative Candida virulence factors, while serum proteinase inhibitors depend on host defense mechanisms.

Differential patterns of PMN-elastase and type III procollagen peptide in knee joint effusions due to acute and chronic sports injuries [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
In 38 traumatic knee joint effusions the proteolytic enzyme PMN-elastase (PMN-E) and the repair marker procollagen III aminoterminal peptide (PIIINP) were determined.

The thioredoxin‐like and one glutaredoxin domain are required to rescue the iron‐starvation phenotype of HeLa GLRX3 knock out cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Glutaredoxin (Grx) 3 proteins contain a thioredoxin domain and one to three class II Grx domains. These proteins play a crucial role in iron homeostasis in eukaryotic cells. In human Grx3, at least one of the two Grx domains, together with the thioredoxin domain, is essential for its function in iron metabolism.

Prediction of bronchopulmonary dysplasia course in children by analyzing clinico-biochemical indicators

open access: yesZaporožskij Medicinskij Žurnal, 2019
At the present stage, one of the most important issues of pediatric pulmonology is to find ways of preventing the progression of chronic lung diseases. The concept of the natural course of disease has emerged among some pathological conditions, that is ...

Improvement of irradiation-induced fibroblast damage by α2-macroglobulin through alleviating mitochondrial dysfunction

open access: yesPharmaceutical Biology, 2022
Context α2-Macroglobulin (α2-M) is believed to be a potential anti-irradiation agent, but related mechanisms remains unclear. Objective We investigated the irradiation protective effect of α2-M.Materials and methods A total of 10 Gy dose of irradiation ...

Disruption of SETD3‐mediated histidine‐73 methylation by the BWCFF‐associated β‐actin G74S mutation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The β‐actin G74S mutation causes altered interaction of actin with SETD3, reducing histidine‐73 methylation efficiency and forming two distinct actin variants. The variable ratio of these variants across cell types and developmental stages contributes to tissue‐specific phenotypical changes. This imbalance may impair actin dynamics and mechanosensitive

A novel in vitro cell model of the proteinase/antiproteinase balance observed in alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology
Background: Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) is a genetic condition resulting from mutations in the alpha-1 antitrypsin (AAT) protein, a major systemic antiproteinase, resulting in reduced/no release of AAT, disrupting the proteinase/antiproteinase ...

The effect of dry extract of cabbage garden on the local non-specific proteinase-inhibitory potential of the mucous membrane of the stomach on the model of acute gastric ulcer

open access: yesФармацевтичний журнал, 2019
Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum is a complex gastroenterological disease multifactorial in pathogenesis. One of the key components of non-specific inflammation in peptic ulcer disease is the activation of proteinases in the gastric mucosa and ...
