The fate of phosphobetaines in protic solvents
Journal of the Chemical Society D: Chemical Communications, 1971Reactions in protic solvents of 2-hydroxyalkyltriphenylphosphonium salts with base and of triphenylphosphine with propylene oxide produce numerous unexpected products, thereby revealing a much wider scope of reactivity for the phosphobetaine intermediates of these reactions than was previously recognized.

Solvation properties of protic ionic liquid–molecular solvent mixtures
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2020In this study, we have investigated the solvation properties of binary mixtures of PILs with molecular solvents. The selected binary solvent systems are the PILs ethylammonium nitrate (EAN) and propylammonium nitrate (PAN) combined with either water, methanol, acetonitrile or DMSO.

Products of Degradation of Black Phosphorus in Protic Solvents
ACS Nano, 2018Deterioration of the surface of black phosphorus (BP) caused by ambient atmosphere is an undesired process, limiting broader use of BP in many areas. The mechanism of BP degradation was explained theoretically, and the oxidized materials were thoroughly characterized experimentally.

Solvation properties of protic ionic liquids and molecular solvents
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2020Ionic liquids (ILs) are highly tailorable solvents with many potential applications. Knowledge about their solvation properties is highly beneficial in the utilization of ILs for specific tasks, though for many ILs this is currently unknown.

PHOTOCHEMISTRY OF 1,2-DIPHENYLCYCLOBUTENE IN PROTIC SOLVENTS
Chemistry Letters, 1974Abstract Irradiation of 1,2-diphenylcyclobutene (1) in methanol solution afforded a mixture of α-(1-phenylcyclopropyl)benzyl methyl ether and 1,2-diphenylcyclobutyl methyl ether. In acetic acid corresponding esters were obtained. Evidence supporting the involvement of a singlet species was obtained by the finding that the fluorescence of

Neutral Nazarov reaction using protic solvents as activators
Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan, 2023Abstract Herein, we report a neutral Nazarov reaction using protic solvents instead of strong acids as activators. The key to the success of this reaction lies in the rational design of the divinyl ketone substrates. In particular, the introduction of electron-donating groups (EDGs) at the β- and β′-positions of the carbonyl group in the

Polyglycerol‐Tagged Molecular Clips as Receptors in Protic Solvents
European Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2012AbstractFour charge‐neutral molecular clips modified with polyglycerol (PG) dendrons of first and second generation and with hyperbranched polyglycerols (HPG) in the central unit as solubilizing units were synthesized. Their use as supramolecular hosts for the complexation of several guest molecules such as caffeine, N‐methylnicotinamide iodide, and ...

Gas-Phase Metal Trications in Protic Solvent Complexes
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2002In the first observation of triply charged metal ions microsolvated by protic ligands, gas-phase complexes of 11 different metal trications with diacetone alcohol were generated using electrospray ionization. These species were found to exist for at least five to eight ligands, depending on the metal.

Photochemistry of 5-aminoquinoline in protic and aprotic solvents
Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular and Biomolecular Spectroscopy, 2011Photophysical properties of 5-aminoquinoline (5AQ) have been investigated in various non-polar and polar (protic and aprotic) solvents using steady state and time resolved fluorescence. In aprotic solvents, the spectral maxima depend on the polarity. However, in protic solvents both the fluorescence intensity as well decay time show decrease depending ...

Photochemical addition of protic solvents to 1-phenylcycloalkenes
Tetrahedron, 1971Abstract Direct photolysis of 6–8-membered 1-phenylcycloalkenes (1a–1c) dissolved in acetic or propionic acid gives mainly the corresponding esters (2), which are also obtained in the acetophenone-sensitized reactions. Minor products in the direct photolysis of 1a and 1b are hydrogenation (3) and alkylation products (4), while 8-membered 1c yields 1 ...
