Chemistry of methylgallium(III) compounds in protic solvents
Organometallics, 1987Abstract : The chemical properties of as well as routes to the formation of methylgallium (III) compounds in aqueous acidic solutions and in other protic solvents have been investigated. Aqueous perchloric acid solutions of Me2GaC10 at room temperature are surprisingly resistant to hydrolytic cleavage of the gallium-carbon bond.

Substitution reactions of trans-[PtL2Cl2] in protic solvents
Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry, 1966Abstract An investigation of the nucleophilic substitutions of trans-[PtL2Cl2], L = P(C2H5)3 or piperidine, with 36Cl−, Br−, N3−, I− and SCN− in methyl, ethyl and butyl alcohols at 40°C is reported. The rate determining step is the substitution of the first chloride atom. The pseudo-first order rate constants, kobs.sec−1, are consistent with the two

Hydrogen-bonded capsules in polar, protic solvents.
Chemical communications (Cambridge, England), 2002A kinetically stable, dimeric capsule is formed by tetrahydroxyresorcinarene in methanol; it encapsulates tropylium and tetramethylammonium cations.

Chimeric Behavior of Excited Thioxanthone in Protic Solvents: II. Theory
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2014The chimeric behavior of thioxanthone in protic solvents has been investigated employing computational chemistry methods. In particular, methanol and 2,2,2-trifluoroethanol have been chosen in this study. The solvent environment has been modeled using microsolvation in combination with a conductor-like screening model.

Unprecedented high fluorescence anisotropy in protic solvents: Hydrogen bond induced solvent caging?
Chemical Physics Letters, 2016Atypical high fluorescence anisotropy has been revealed in protic solvents for excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) prone 3-hydroxyflavone and some of its hydroxy derivatives. In non-protic solvents, however, the anisotropy values are low.

Photooxidation of Co-thiolato complexes in protic and aprotic solvents
Chemical Communications, 2006Protic solvents decrease the susceptibility of the thiolate ligand in Co(III) thiolato complexes toward attack by singlet oxygen, but greatly increase the conversion of the peroxidic intermediate to the sulfenato product.

Efficiency of Bulky Protic Solvent for SN2 Reaction
Organic Letters, 2007We calculate and compare the effects of aprotic vs protic solvent on the rate of SN2 reaction [F- + C3H7OMs--> C3H7F + OMs-]. We find that aprotic solvent acetonitrile is more efficient than a small protic solvent such as methanol. Bulky protic solvent (tert-butyl alcohol) is predicted to be quite efficient, giving the rate constant that is similar to ...

Selective Recognition of Alkyl Pyranosides in Protic and Aprotic Solvents
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2008The design and synthesis of receptors capable of selective, noncovalent recognition of carbohydrates continues to be a signature challenge in bioorganic chemistry. We report a new generation of tripodal receptors incorporating three pyridine (compound 2) or quinoline (compound 3) rings around a central cyclohexane core for use in molecular recognition ...

Lyotropic Mesophases of K‐Palmitate in Protic Solvents
Lipid / Fett, 1994AbstractComparing the phase diagrams of the three binary soap systems KC16/glycerol, KC16/ethylene glycol and KC16/butylene glycol (KC16 = K‐palmitate), we found alterations in types of phase diagrams that depend on the chemical structure of the protic solvent. Variation of the polymorphic transitions were observed.
