Monitoring of breathing motion in image-guided PBS proton therapy: comparative analysis of optical and electromagnetic technologies

open access: yesRadiation Oncology, 2017
Background Motion monitoring is essential when treating non-static tumours with pencil beam scanned protons. 4D medical imaging typically relies on the detected body surface displacement, considered as a surrogate of the patient's anatomical changes, a ...

Exploring the experience of meaning-centered group psychotherapy among Chinese cancer patients during active treatment: a descriptive qualitative study

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychiatry, 2023
ObjectiveMeaninglessness poses a significant psychological challenge for cancer patients, negatively affecting their quality of life and increasing the risk of suicide.

Extending the Frontiers - Reconciling Accelerator and Cosmic Ray p-p Cross Sections [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.D62:077501,2000, 2000
We simultaneously fit a QCD-inspired parameterization of all accelerator data on forward proton-proton and antiproton-proton scattering amplitudes, together with cosmic ray data (using Glauber theory), to predict proton-air and proton-proton cross sections at energies near \sqrt s \approx 30 TeV.

Proton-air and proton-proton cross sections [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
Different attempts to measure hadronic cross sections with cosmic ray data are reviewed. The major results are compared to each other and the differences in the corresponding analyses are discussed. Besides some important differences, it is crucial to see that all analyses are based on the same fundamental relation of longitudinal air shower ...

Proton-proton Bremsstrahlung

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1967
Abstract We calculate proton-proton Bremsstrahlung cross sections using the Tabakin separable potentials to generate off-shell nucleon-nucleon t-matrix elements in low partial waves and off-shell one-pion-exchange amplitudes for the higher partial waves.

Successful treatment with proton beam therapy for a solitary sternal metastasis of breast cancer: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2022
Background Breast cancer infrequently metastasizes to the sternum as solitary metastasis. We experienced successful treatment with proton beam therapy for a case of sternal metastasis of breast cancer.

Cross sections for pentaquark baryon production from protons in reactions induced by hadrons and photons [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev. C68 (2003) 045203, 2003
Using hadronic Lagrangians that include the interaction of pentaquark $\Theta^+$ baryon with $K$ and $N$, we evaluate the cross sections for its production from meson-proton, proton-proton, and photon-proton reactions near threshold. With empirical coupling constants and form factors, the predicted cross sections are about 1.5 mb in kaon-proton ...

Energy efficiency of the high-current diode under the blow-up mode evolution in the anode

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2023
The results of experimental studies of energy fluxes released during the diode target blow-up initiated by a high-current relativistic electron beam are presented in the paper.

Large-angle production of charged pions with 3-12.9 GeV/c incident protons on nuclear targets [PDF]

open access: yesPhys.Rev.C77:055207,2008, 2008
Measurements of the double-differential charged pion production cross-section in the range of momentum 100 MeV/c < p < 800 MeV/c and angle 0.35 < \theta < 2.15 rad in proton-beryllium, proton-carbon, proton-aluminium, proton-copper, proton-tin, proton-tantalum and proton-lead collisions are presented.

The rate of the proton-proton reaction

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1994
We re-evaluate the matrix element for the proton-proton reaction which is important for stellar-evolution calculations and for the solar-neutrino problem. We self-consistently determine the effect of vacuum polarization on the matrix element by first correcting the low-energy scattering data to account for vacuum polarization.
