Precision-Engineered Construction of Proton-Conducting Metal–Organic Frameworks

open access: yesNano-Micro Letters
Highlights The effects of the size structure and stability of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) on proton conduction are comprehensively summarized. Advanced strategies for constructing proton conduction MOFs are critically discussed.

Synthesis and proton conduction properties of lanthanide amino-sulfophosphonates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Crystalline acid-functionalized metal phosphonates are potential candidates as proton conducting electrolytes. Their frameworks can be chemically modified to contain proton carriers such as acidic groups (P-OH; -SO3H, -COOH,…) and guest molecules (H2O ...

First-principles investigation of polarization and ion conduction mechanisms in hydroxyapatite

open access: yes, 2017
We report first-principles simulation of polarization mechanisms in hydroxyapatite to explain the underlying mechanism behind the reported ion conductivities and polarization under electrical poling at elevated temperatures.

Onsager's Wien Effect on a Lattice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The Second Wien Effect describes the non-linear, non-equilibrium response of a weak electrolyte in moderate to high electric fields. Onsager's 1934 electrodiffusion theory along with various extensions has been invoked for systems and phenomena as ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Secondary water pore formation for proton transport in a ClC exchanger revealed by an atomistic molecular dynamics simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Several prokaryotic ClC proteins have been demonstrated to function as exchangers that transport both chloride ions and protons simultaneously in opposite directions.

Enhancement of the conductivity of Ba2In2O5 through phosphate doping [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this paper, we demonstrate the successful incorporation of phosphate into Ba2In2O5, which leads to the conversion from an orthorhombic to a cubic unit cell.

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Nanocrystalline Surface Layer of WO3 for Enhanced Proton Transport during Fuel Cell Operation

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
High ionic conductivity in low-cost semiconductor oxides is essential to develop electrochemical energy devices for practical applications. These materials exhibit fast protonic or oxygen-ion transport in oxide materials by structural doping, but their ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
