Synergistic proton conduction via Ca-vacancy coupled with Li+-bridge in Ca5(PO4)3OH
Proton conductivity plays a crucial role in the advancement of materials for proton ceramic fuel cells (PCFCs) and a variety of electrochemical devices. Traditional approaches to enhancing proton conductivity in perovskites have largely relied on doping ...

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Transport properties of Ba3Ca1+xNb2−xO9−δ composite perovskite oxides
ABO3-type perovskite oxides and A3B′B′′2O9-type composite perovskite oxides exhibit proton conduction from 200 ℃ to 1000 ℃. These high-temperature proton conductors have received considerable attention due to their promise as electrolytes in fuel cells ...

BCL9 and BCL9L drive bladder cancer progression by enhancing β‐catenin signaling, promoting proliferation, migration, invasion, and organoid growth. Genetic depletion of BCL9(L) suppresses malignant phenotypes, while pharmacological disruption of the β‐catenin/BCL9(L) complex with ZW4864 inhibits canonical Wnt signaling and tumor‐associated cellular ...

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
