Steering Oxygen Activation Pathways via Redox Dual‐Defects in 2D Hydrated WO3 for High‐Yield Singlet Oxygen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Redox dual‐defects (Cs substitution and O vacancies) in 2D hydrated WO3 steer O2 activation toward selective singlet oxygen evolution. WO‐CO achieves 8.6–15.8 times higher 1O2 production than single‐defect or pristine catalysts, enabling efficient pollutant mineralization via a pathway‐selective photocatalytic mechanism.

Bandgap‐Engineered AlGaAs/GaAs Heterostructures for Wavelength‐Selective Dual‐Polarity Photoelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bandgap‐engineered AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructures exhibit wavelength‐selective dual‐polarity photoelectrochemistry, switching from photocathodic to photoanodic response depending on excitation wavelength. The polarity transition is governed by band‐selective absorption, built‐in electric‐field‐driven carrier transport, and interfacial charge‐transfer ...

Multilayer Casting Strategy for Enhanced Cation Contamination Resistance in Proton Exchange Membranes

open access: yesElectron
The proton exchange membrane (PEM) is critical for the operation of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFCs). However, cationic impurities (e.g., Ca2+ and Mg2+) in water or the environment readily bind to the PEM's sulfonic acid groups (−SO3H ...

Myrcene‐Based Tailored Co‐Polymers as Active Pharmaceutical Excipients: Bio‐Based Solutions for Mucoadhesive Excipients

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Mucoadhesive amphiphilic block and statistical copolymers were synthesized via Reversible Addition–Fragmentation Chain Transfer polymerization from bio‐sourced myrcene and polyethylene glycol methacrylate. The resulting polymers exhibit narrow molar‐mass distributions, high regioselectivity, well‐defined microstructures, and tend to self‐assemble into ...

Engineering MnNiPx Cathode via Dual Role of Mn: Simultaneous Enhancement of Activity and Intermittent Operation Durability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Engineering MnNiPx cathodes through the dual role of Mn simultaneously improves hydrogen evolution reaction activity and intermittent‐operation durability. Mn preferentially oxidizes to protect Ni–P sites from irreversible oxidation, while metallic Mn incorporation enhances the HER kinetics of Ni–P active layer.

An effective strategy to enhance phosphoric acid retention and proton conductivity stability: Construction of proton transfer channels with starch rather than H3PO4

open access: yesPolymer Testing
To enhance the phosphoric acid (PA) retention as well as maintain high proton conductivity of phosphoric acid doped proton exchange membranes at high temperature, we successfully design a series of phosphoric acid doped biobased composite membranes by ...

Support‐Controlled Reaction Pathways via Dynamic Sulfur‐Mediated Interfaces for Selective Urea Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sulfur‐doped graphitized carbon nanofibers act as adaptive catalyst–support platforms, enabling dynamic sulfur‐mediated reconstruction and strong metal–support interactions. This unique behavior enhances catalyst stability and controls reaction pathways, achieving highly selective urea oxidation (∼92% N2) coupled with efficient hydrogen evolution ...

Pressure-induced amorphization of a dense coordination polymer and its impact on proton conductivity

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2014
The proton conductivity of a dense coordination polymer (CP) was investigated under high-pressure conditions. Impedance measurements under high pressures revealed that the proton conductivity of the CP decreased more than 1000-fold at pressures of 3–7 ...

Nano‐Scale Characterization of Impurities Segregation in Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cathodic polarization induces impurity segregation in Ni, forming an amorphous Na─Al─Si─O amorphous phase at grain boundaries. Under ultralow oxygen partial pressure, multiple elements dissolve, migrate, and reoxidize within the metal. A patterned model system provides direct nanoscale evidence, clarifying the mechanism of polarization‐driven impurity ...
