Feasibility and Safety of High‐Dose Proton Re‐Irradiation in Recurrent Pediatric Central Nervous System Tumors: A Single‐Institution Retrospective Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Pediatric central nervous system (CNS) tumors often recur despite multimodality therapy. Although re‐irradiation (re‐RT) has historically been limited by concerns for severe late toxicities, modern techniques have renewed interest in this approach. Proton therapy provides dosimetric advantages that may enable curative re‐treatment with

Protonolysis of a Ruthenium–Carbene Bond and Applications in Olefin Metathesis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The synthesis of a ruthenium complex containing an N-heterocylic carbene (NHC) and a mesoionic carbene (MIC) is described wherein addition of a Brønsted acid results in protonolysis of the Ru–MIC bond to generate an extremely active metathesis catalyst ...

The Role of Invasive Procedures in the Treatment of Complicated Gastrointestinal Graft‐Versus‐Host Disease in Pediatric Patients

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Gastrointestinal graft‐versus‐host disease (GI GVHD) following hematopoietic stem cell transplant is typically managed with medical therapy, but surgery and angioembolization may be warranted in selected cases with life‐threatening complications.

Absorption Spectra of Protonated Corroles: Two Distinct Patterns Due to Peripheral Substitution Architecture

open access: yesOrganics, 2023
The origin of individual features in the ground state absorption spectra of two protonated corroles differing in the architecture of peripheral substitution (either Cm-aryl or Cb-alkyl) have been studied in detail with the ground state absorption ...

DFT Study of Nitroxide Radicals. 1. Effects of solvent on structural and electronic characteristics of 4-amino-2,2,5,5-tetramethyl-3-imidazoline-N-oxyl

open access: yes, 2003
Imidazoline-based nitroxide radicals are often used as spin probes for medium acidity and polarity in different systems. In this work, using the density functional theory (DFT) approach, we have studied how physico-chemical characteristics (geometry ...

The leading proton effect in proton-proton collisions

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 1973
Abstract The p spectrum data in the range s = 28 to s = 1995 are described with the triple Regge formula. The behaviour of the various couplings at small | t | is explored. It is found that the non-scaling terms, at s ≅ 400 GeV 2 remove the turnover expected if the triple pomeron vanishes at t = 0.

Assessing Cognitive Functioning in Children With Brain Tumors: Interaction of Neighborhood Social Determinants of Health and Neurological Risk

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background This study investigated how neighborhood‐level social determinants of health (SDOH), including redlining and neurological risk, interact to influence cognitive outcomes in children treated for brain tumors (CTBT). Methods A retrospective chart review of 161 CTBT aged 5–17 was conducted.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Correlation between structural properties and electrochemical proton insertion in (001) VO2 epitaxial films

open access: yesApplied Physics Express
We epitaxially grew rutile-structured VO _2 films with various out-of-plane lattice constants on (001) TiO _2 substrates by pulsed laser deposition and investigated their protonation by electrochemically injecting protons to the films in transistor ...
