Precursors of Protoporphyrin in Chlorella
Nature, 1952ON the basis of studies of Chlorella mutants a biosynthetic chain has been formulated leading from protoporphyrin through Mg protoporphyrin, Mg vinyl pheoporphyrin and protochlorophyll finally to chlorophyll1. We have recently isolated a Chlorella mutant which promises to reveal some of the precursor porphyrins leading up to protoporphyrin.

Methyl deuteration reactions in vinylporphyrins: protoporphyrins IX, III, and XIII
Base-catalyzed deuteration of the methyl groups in protoporphyrin IX dimethyl ester (1) proceeds with differential deuteration; rate of deuteration, as measured by NMR spectroscopy of reaction products, follows the order 3-Me \u3e 1-Me \u3e 5-Me \u3e 8 ...

Red cell zinc protoporphyrin and protoporphyrin by HPLC with fluorescence detection
Biomedical Chromatography, 1986AbstractA high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC) method was developed for the determination of zinc protoporphyrin (ZnPP) and protoporphyrin (PP) in whole blood. After adding the blood to dilute acetic acid, ZnPP and PP were extracted with dimethyl sulfoxide–acetone containing mesoporphyrin as internal standard.

Sites of photosensitization by protoporphyrin and tin protoporphyrin in leukemia L1210 cells
Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology, 1990Studies with protoporphyrin (PP) and tin protoporphyrin (SnPP) were carried out to assess the effects of tin insertion on the sites of dye localization. Fluorescence emission spectra and studies on the sites of photodamage were consistent with a concentration of PP at membrane loci. In contrast, SnPP photodamage involved an intracellular site.

Protoporphyrin and Zinc Protoporphyrin in the Blood of Tumor Transplanted Mice
Chemistry Letters, 1995Abstract Fluorescence at 630 nm was detected from the blood of tumor implanted mice. The fluorescence was attributed to protoporphyrin and zinc protoporphyrin. The fluorescence intensity increased with the increase of the period from tumor implantation and then decreased. By measuring the fluorescence intensity of the blood, the progress

Nitric oxide inhibits the formation of zinc protoporphyrin IX and protoporphyrin IX
Meat Science, 2010The aim of this study was to elucidate the mechanism by which curing agents, especially nitrite, inhibit the formation of zinc protoporphyrin IX (ZPP) in dry-cured hams such as Parma ham. The oxidation-reduction potential of model solutions was increased by the addition of nitrite, but it was not clear whether the formation of ZPP is inhibited by the ...
