Effectiveness of Ginsenoside Rh2 Treatment in Mice Experimentally Infected With Cryptosporidium parvum

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
• This study evaluated the therapeutic effects of Ginsenoside Rh2 in mice experimentally infected with Cryptosporidium parvum and compared two dosing regimens. • Ginsenoside Rh2 reduced faecal oocyst shedding and improved body‐weight recovery in C. parvum‐infected mice.

Gastrointestinal Parasites of Domestic Ducks (Anas platyrhynchos domesticus) in Kathmandu, Nepal

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Gastrointestinal parasites in ducks raised on smallholder farms in Kathmandu, Nepal, are investigated using copromicroscopic examination. A diverse range of protozoa and helminth parasites are detected including the first records of Entamoeba spp., Cryptosporidium sp. and Tyzzeria sp. in ducks in Nepal.

Prevalence, Genetic Diversity, and Zoonotic Transmission Potential of Cryptosporidium spp. in Snakes: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
This study provides the first global systematic synthesis of Cryptosporidium spp. infection in snakes. A pooled prevalence of 12.6% was identified, with higher occurrence in captive‐associated populations than in wild snakes. Eight Cryptosporidium species, including multiple zoonotic taxa, were reported, underscoring the potential role of snakes within

Diversity of the Microbiomes in the Larval and Adult Stages of the European Cherry Fruit Fly (Rhagoletis cerasi) and Identification of Potential Biocontrol Candidate Taxa

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, Volume 174, Issue 9, Page 999-1010, September 2026.
First comprehensive characterization of the R. cerasi microbiome is reported. Stage‐specific variations in microbial composition are documented. Multiple bacterial entomopathogen taxa are identified as potential biocontrol candidates for R. cerasi.

Synthesis and Antiparasitic Activities of New Organometallic Derivatives of the Benzimidazole Anthelmintic Drugs

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
Organometallic derivatization of existing drugs is a common strategy to look for new drug candidates. This work describes the derivatization of the benzimidazole anthelmintic scaffold, from the synthesis of the organometallic derivatives to the evaluation of their biological properties. It highlights a broad range of antiparasitic activities and leaves

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 8, Page 1913-1932, August 2026.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Abalone Gut Microbiome Regulators: A Review Synthesizing Gut Physiology, Microorganisms, Diet and the Environment

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Abalone are economically, ecologically and culturally significant marine molluscs, with both wild and farmed populations under pressure due to intrinsic and extrinsic stressors. Abalone performance and health are centred on a highly specialized digestive system supported by a diverse gut microbiome, which enables nutrient assimilation ...
