The intergenerational transmission of reflective functioning in adoptive families: A prospective study from pre‐adoption to early adolescence

open access: yesInfant Mental Health Journal: Infancy and Early Childhood, Volume 47, Issue 4, July 2026.
Abstract Parental reflective functioning is crucial for the development of children's reflective functioning, with cross‐sectional evidence supporting this idea. However, there is a lack of long‐term, prospective studies in this area and no previous studies have examined parental reflective functioning and child reflective functioning in the context of

Enhanced Contour‐Deviant Mismatch Negativity and Mnemonic Representations in Older Musicians

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 12, June 2026.
Data showed enhanced MMN amplitudes in aging adult musicians compared with nonmusicians. Given that enhancements in MMN responses may be an indicator of preserved sensory processing in aging, music training may insulate age‐related decreases in sensory processing through preserved fidelity of encoding auditory information.

Functional Neural Architecture of Working Memory in Musicians: An ALE Meta‐Analysis and Review

open access: yesWIREs Cognitive Science, Volume 17, Issue 3, May/June 2026.
A Summary of ALE Meta‐Analytic Findings on the Neural Correlates Underlying Working Memory in Musicians. Figure displays a 3D rendering of regions with significantly increased (M > NM; red) and decreased (NM > M; blue) functional activation in musicians during working memory tasks, as indicated by ALE meta‐analysis.

Shared Neural Computations for Syntactic and Morphological Structures: Evidence From Mandarin Chinese

open access: yesCognitive Science, Volume 50, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Although psycho‐/neuro‐linguistics has assumed a distinction between morphological and syntactic structure building as in traditional theoretical linguistics, this distinction has been increasingly challenged by theoretical linguists in recent years.

Neural Tracking of Sustained Attention, Attention Switching, and Natural Conversation in Audiovisual Environments Using Wearable EEG

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 63, Issue 9, May 2026.
Neural tracking‐based electroencephalography (EEG) needs to generalize between listening scenarios. Participants perform various listening tasks, including sustained attention and attention‐switching paradigms, using audiovisual material featuring both single speakers and multi‐speaker conversations.

An Exploratory Study on Graphene‐Based Hybrid Epoxy Coatings for Corrosion Resistance and Self‐Healing

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 21, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Corrosion of metallic process equipment in chemical, marine, and offshore industries leads to significant maintenance costs and safety concerns. Conventional epoxy coatings, though widely applied, often deteriorate under harsh conditions due to microcracking, moisture ingress and lack of self‐healing capability.

Shared Neural Codes for Emotion Recognition in Emoji and Human Faces

open access: yesPsychophysiology, Volume 63, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Facial expressions are critical social signals that support human communication. In digital contexts, emojis serve as a primary surrogate for nonverbal cues such as facial expressions; however, little is known about the extent to which emoji expressions are processed using neural mechanisms similar to those engaged by real human faces.

Cultural and Gender Influences on Facial Attractiveness: A Comparative Study of Japanese and American Raters Using Geometric Morphometrics

open access: yesPsyCh Journal, Volume 15, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Facial attractiveness is a critical factor in forming interpersonal impressions. Evaluations of facial attractiveness were previously considered universal. However, it has recently been pointed out that individuals and cultures can diversify their evaluations.

Acoustic Features of Emotional Vocalizations Account for Early Modulations of Event‐Related Brain Potentials

open access: yesPsychophysiology, Volume 63, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Emotion is key to human communication, and inferring emotion in a speaker's voice is a cross‐cultural and cross‐linguistic capability. Electroencephalography (EEG) studies of neural mechanisms supporting emotion perception have reported that early components of the event‐related potential (ERP) are modulated by emotion.
