Roles for MSI2 and PROX1 in hematopoietic stem cell activity
Current Opinion in Hematology, 2011The MSI2 and PROX1 proteins are increasingly recognized for their critical roles in the biology of primitive hematopoietic cells and for their potential contributions to leukemic pathogenesis. Here we summarize the studies that have shed light on the hematopoietic-specific roles of MSI2 and PROX1 and give an overview of the molecular mechanisms ...

PROX1: A Key Regulator of Hepatocyte Identity and Tumorigenesis
Cancer ResearchDuring ontogeny, the modulation of cell fate plasticity in stem cells is meticulously controlled as they undergo differentiation into distinct cell lineages. Dysregulation of this plasticity can result in pathologic conditions, such as oncogenesis. Transcription factors are pivotal in orchestrating this cellular transition by initiating gene expression

Hepatocyte migration during liver development requires Prox1
Nature Genetics, 2000Several genes are required during the early phases of liver specification, proliferation and differentiation. Here we report that Prox1 is required for hepatocyte migration. Loss of Prox1 leads to formation of a smaller liver with a reduced population of clustered hepatocytes surrounded by a laminin-rich basal membrane.

Prox1 function is crucial for mouse lens-fibre elongation
Nature Genetics, 1999Although insights have emerged regarding genes controlling the early stages of eye formation, little is known about lens-fibre differentiation and elongation. The expression pattern of the Prox1 homeobox gene suggests it has a role in a variety of embryonic tissues, including lens.

PROX1 is involved in progression of rectal neuroendocrine tumors, NETs
Virchows Archiv, 2015PROX1 is a homeobox transcription factor involved in the development of the lens, liver and heart and found upregulated in colorectal cancers. We studied PROX1 expression by immunohistochemistry in rectal neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Approximately 10 to 15 % of gastroenteropancreatic NETs occur in the rectum, and some may metastasize.

Gene regulation by homeobox transcription factor Prox1 in murine hepatoblasts
Cell and Tissue Research, 2007The homeobox transcription factor Prox1 is expressed in embryonic hepatoblasts and remains expressed in adult hepatocytes. Prox1-null mice show severe deficiencies in liver development, although the underlying mechanisms are unknown. We have studied the effects of Prox1 on the transcriptional profile of met-murine hepatocytes (MMH) obtained on ...

Medical Molecular Morphology
Prospero homeobox protein 1 (PROX1) is aberrantly expressed in tumors, including neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs); however, the detailed expression pattern remains elusive. This study aimed to immunohistochemically assess PROX1 expression. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) for PROX1 was performed on tissue microarrays of normal tissues (nā=ā107), NENs (nā=ā152)
