Scalable proximity indexing with the list of clusters

2014 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC), 2014
In a wide spectrum of computer applications, the central problem is to satisfy proximity queries in a database of abstract objects under a given distance. That is, to find objects near a given query. Above certain size-threshold, a sequential scan of the database is too costly to be of use and an index should be used.

Towards Efficient Index Construction and Approximate Nearest Neighbor Search in High-Dimensional Spaces

Proceedings of the VLDB Endowment, 2023
The approximate nearest neighbor (ANN) search in high-dimensional spaces is a fundamental but computationally very expensive problem. Many methods have been designed for solving the ANN problem, such as LSH-based methods and graph-based methods.

Mother‐offspring proximity maintenance as an infanticide avoidance strategy in bornean orangutans (Pongo pygmaeus wurmbii)

American Journal of Primatology, 2023
Sexually‐selected infanticide by males is widespread across primates. Maternal protection is one of many infanticide avoidance strategies employed by female primates.

Proximate composition and glycaemic index of destarched rice

Nigerian Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences, 2022
There is strong evidence linking low glycaemic diets and reduced risk of developing diabetes mellitus (DM). This study was designed to develop low glycaemic index (GI) food using rice. Rice was subjected to enzymatic treatment at 40 °C for 8 mins for destarching.

Proximity Index Value Based Systematized Approximation of Higher-Order Interconnected Power System Model

IEEE transactions on industry applications
The presented research proposal focuses on the approximation of higher-order (HO) multi-input multi-output (MIMO) interconnected power system model (IPSM) by employing systematic approach of proximity index value (PIV) based weight ascertainment method ...

Is product proximity a driver for better energy security? Global evidence of nonlinear relationships between product proximity and energy security

International Journal of Sustainable Development and World Ecology, 2022
This study examines the non-linear relationship between product proximity, as captured by the Economic Complexity Outlook Index, and various dimensions of energy security: acceptability, develop-ability, and sustainability.

Efficient term proximity search with term-pair indexes

Proceedings of the 19th ACM international conference on Information and knowledge management, 2010
There has been a large amount of research on early termination techniques in web search and information retrieval. Such techniques return the top-k documents without scanning and evaluating the full inverted lists of the query terms. Thus, they can greatly improve query processing efficiency. However, only a limited amount of efficient top-k processing

RRSi: indexing XML data for proximity twig queries

Knowledge and Information Systems, 2008
Twig query pattern matching is a core operation in XML query processing. Indexing XML documents for twig query processing is of fundamental importance to supporting effective information retrieval. In practice, many XML documents on the web are heterogeneous and have their own formats; documents describing relevant information can possess different ...

Dynamic Permutation Based Index for Proximity Searching

2015
Proximity searching consists in retrieving objects from a dataset that are similar to a given query. This kind of tool is an elementary task in different areas, for instance pattern recognition or artificial intelligence. To solve this problem, it is usual to use a metric index.
