Allele mining of eukaryotic translation initiation factor genes in Prunus for the identification of new sources of resistance to sharka

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Members of the eukaryotic translation initiation complex are co-opted in viral infection, leading to susceptibility in many crop species, including stone fruit trees (Prunus spp.). Therefore, modification of one of those eukaryotic translation initiation

Colonization and spatiotemporal distribution of bruchid pests in lentil and faba bean fields

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
This study of 104 fields identifies Bruchus signaticornis in lentils and B. rufimanus in faba beans as the sole grain‐damaging species. Their uniform distribution within fields and the strong effect of regulatory factors on larvae and egg survival emphasize the need for species‐specific, phenology‐based and spatially informed integrated pest management

Differences in ‘Candidatus Phytoplasma pruni’ Gene Expression When Infecting Sweet Cherry Versus Leafhoppers

open access: yesPhytoFrontiers
The X-disease phytoplasma (‘Candidatus Phytoplasma pruni’) is an obligate pathogen that is capable of infection, persistence, and pathogenicity in both its major plant host (Prunus spp.) and leafhopper vector (Colladonus spp.) species. How ‘Ca. P. pruni’

Evaluation of electrolyzed water to control fungal trunk pathogens in grapevine nurseries

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 1740-1751, April 2025.
Electrolyzed water treatments could have promising applications in the grapevine nursery process to prevent or reduce infections caused by fungal trunk pathogens on grapevine propagation material. Abstract BACKGROUND Grapevine producers demand solutions to control fungal trunk pathogens (FTPs) in nurseries.

Dusky grouse seasonal resource selection in the Great Basin isolated mountain ranges of Nevada, USA

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Dusky grouse Dendragapus obscurus are a montane forest grouse species with a paucity of information regarding their temporal and spatial resource use during critical times of high mortality and reproductive output. This lack of vital data may leave dusky grouse at risk of sub‐optimal management in many areas of their distribution, especially in the ...

Scientific Opinion on the pest categorisation of Prunus necrotic ringspot virus

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2014
The Panel on Plant Health performed a pest categorisation of Prunus necrotic ringspot virus (PNRSV) for the European Union (EU) territory. PNRSV is a well‐defined virus species of the genus Ilarvirus for which the entire genome sequence and molecular ...

Warm Spring Weather Alters Calling Phenology of Four Sympatric Early‐Breeding Anurans

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
An unusually warm March in 2024 (“false spring”) followed by freezing temperatures allowed us to assess the impact of a weather event on an amphibian community. The calling activity of all four species was associated with increasing temperature, and the first date of calling was advanced by 11–18 days.

Multiplicação in vitro do porta-enxerto de Prunus spp. 'Carelli' [PDF]
