Algebraic description of jacobians isogeneous to certain prym varieties with polarization (1,2) [PDF]

open access: yesExperimental Mathematics, 2018
For a class of non-hyperelliptic genus 3 curves C which are twofold coverings of elliptic curves E, we give an explicit algebraic description of all birationally nonequivalent genus 2 curves whose Jacobians are degree 2 isogeneous to the Prym varieties ...

Hyperelliptic Prym Varieties and Integrable Systems [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications in Mathematical Physics, 2001
We introduce two algebraic completely integrable analogues of the Mumford systems which we call hyperelliptic Prym systems, because every hyperelliptic Prym variety appears as a fiber of their momentum map. As an application we show that the generic fiber of the momentum map of the periodic Volterra lattice $$\dot a_i=a_i(a_{i-1}-a_{i+1}), \qquad i=1,..

A characterization of Prym varieties [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Mathematics Research Notices, 2006
We prove that Prym varieties of algebraic curves with two smooth fixed points of involution are exactly the indecomposable principally polarized abelian varieties whose theta-functions provide explicit formulae for integrable 2D Schr dinger equation.

Skeletons of Prym varieties and Brill--Noether theory [PDF]

open access: yesAlgebra & Number Theory, 2021
We show that the non-Archimedean skeleton of the Prym variety associated to an unramified double cover of an algebraic curve is naturally isomorphic (as a principally polarized tropical abelian variety) to the tropical Prym variety of the associated ...

Prym varieties of cyclic coverings [PDF]

open access: yesGeometriae Dedicata, 2010
The Prym map of type (g,n,r) associates to every cyclic covering of degree n of a curve of genus g, ramified at a reduced divisor of degree r, the corresponding Prym variety. We show that the corresponding map of moduli spaces is generically finite in most cases. From this we deduce the dimension of the image of the Prym map.

Prym varieties and their moduli [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We discuss the geometry of the moduli space of Prym varieties. The article is based on series of lectures given in Bedlewo and Luminy. The first section of the paper contains a detailed historical account of the lives of Friedrich Prym and Friedrich ...

Prym varieties and the Schottky problem [PDF]

open access: yesInventiones Mathematicae, 1977
be the moduli space of principally polarized abelian varieties of dimension g, Jg c ~q/g the locus of Jacobians. The problem is to find explicit equations for Jg (or rather its closure Jg) in s/g. In their beautiful paper [A-M], Andreotti and Mayer prove that Jg is an irreducible component of the locus N~_ 4 of principally polarized abelian varieties ...

The Hodge Conjecture for general Prym varieties [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Algebraic Geometry, 2000
The space of Hodge cycles of the general Prym variety is proved to be generated by its Neron-Severi group.Comment: LaTeX ...
