Risk Ratio and Risk Difference Estimation in Case-cohort Studies [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Epidemiology, 2023
Background: In case-cohort studies with binary outcomes, ordinary logistic regression analyses have been widely used because of their computational simplicity.

Hybrid Sensor Placement Framework Using Criterion-Guided Candidate Selection and Optimization [PDF]

open access: yesSensors
This study presents a hybrid sensor placement methodology that combines criterion-based candidate selection with advanced optimization algorithms. Four established selection criteria—modal kinetic energy (MKE), modal strain energy (MSE), modal assurance ...

Design of Partial Mueller-Matrix Polarimeters for Application-Specific Sensors [PDF]

open access: yesSensors
At a particular frequency, most materials and objects of interest exhibit a polarization signature, or Mueller matrix, of limited dimensionality, with many matrix elements either negligibly small or redundant due to symmetry.

Calibration and Localization of Optically Pumped Magnetometers Using Electromagnetic Coils [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2022
In this paper, we propose a method to estimate the position, orientation, and gain of a magnetic field sensor using a set of (large) electromagnetic coils.

A proximal approach to the inversion of ill-conditioned matrices [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We propose a general proximal algorithm for the inversion of ill-conditioned matrices. This algorithm is based on a variational characterization of pseudo-inverses. We show that a particular instance of it (with constant regularization parameter) belongs

Some Special Elements and Pseudo Inverse Functions in Groupoids

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
In this paper, we consider a theory of elements u of a groupoid ( X , ∗ ) that are associated with certain functions u ^ : X → X , pseudo-inverse functions, which are generalizations of the inverses associated with units of ...

The Structure of Pseudo-Inverse Semigroups [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1982
A regular semigroup S is called a pseudo-inverse semigroup if eSe is an inverse semigroup for each e= e2 C S. We show that every pseudo-inverse semigroup divides a semidirect product of a completely simple semigroup and a semilattice. We thereby give a structure theorem for pseudo-inverse semigroups in terms of groups, semilattices and morphisms.

On pseudo-inverses of matrices and their characteristic polynomials in supertropical algebra [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
International audienceThe only invertible matrices in tropical algebra are diagonal matrices, permutation matrices and their products. However, the pseudo-inverse A ∇ , defined as 1 det(A) adj(A), with det(A) being the tropical permanent (also called the

Pseudo-inverses of operators [PDF]

open access: yesBulletin of the American Mathematical Society, 1974
1. Let X and Y be complex Banach spaces, A a bounded linear operator from X to Y. If the null space N(A) and the closed range R(A)~ possess closed complementary subspaces U in X and V in Y respectively, the pseudo-inverse A* of A relative to (U, V) is defined as the linear extension of (AlU)to D(A*)=R(A)+V With the null space N(A*)=V.

Potentials for $\mathcal{A}$-quasiconvexity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
We show that each constant rank operator $\mathcal{A}$ admits an exact potential $\mathbb{B}$ in frequency space. We use this fact to show that the notion of $\mathcal{A}$-quasiconvexity can be tested against compactly supported fields. We also show that
