Cross-section data, disequilibrium situations and estimated coefficients: evidence from car ownership demand [PDF]

open access: yes
The objective of this paper is to analyse to what extent the use of cross-section data will distort the estimated elasticities for car ownership demand when the observed variables do not correspond to a state equilibrium for some individuals in the ...

Hedonic Housing Prices in Paris: An Unbalanced Spatial Lag Pseudo‐Panel Model with Nested Random Effects

open access: yes, 2015
This paper estimates a hedonic housing model based on flats sold in the city of Paris over the period 1990-2003. This is done using maximum likelihood estimation taking into account the nested structure of the data.

Microscopic Insights into Magnetic Warping and Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in Topological Surface States of Rare‐Earth‐Doped Bi2Te3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

The Effect of Credit Guarantees on Survival and Performance of SMEs in Korea [PDF]

open access: yes
This study evaluates the impact of provision of credit guarantee in Korea at the firm level. The data is assembled from two public funds providing credit guarantees covering the period 2000 to 2003. The sample firms consist of SMEs mainly. To measure the

Non‐Destructive Laser Nanopatterning of Superconducting Heterostructures in Topological Sn Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate successful fabrication of high‐quality α‐Sn/β‐Sn planar nanostructures with arbitrary shapes by focused laser irradiation on topological Dirac semimetal α‐Sn thin films. The irradiated regions transform into atomically smooth, superconducting β‐Sn with a critical temperature of 3.7 K.

Self-Employment - a Way to End Unemployment?: Empirical Evidence from German Pseudo-Panel Data [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper contributes to the policy-relevant question whether self-employment is a way out of (long-term) unemployment. We estimate the relationship between the entry rate into self-employment and previous (long-term) unemployment on the basis of pseudo-

The Frisch elasticity in the Mercosur countries: A pseudo-panel approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Copyright @ 2011 Brunel UniversityThis paper provides estimates for the Mercosur countries of the Frisch elasticity —i.e., the elasticity of substitution between worked hours and real wages holding constant the marginal utility of wealth—.
