Some Like It Hot -Structural Changes in Extremophile Rubredoxin at 120 °C. [PDF]
We reveal the high temperature crystal structure of a hyperthermophilic (Pyrococcus furiosus) rubredoxin at 393 K (120 °C), together with multiple complementary structures down to 100 K. The results are compared with molecular dynamics calculations. Significant changes in H‐bonding are observed.

Selective (dis)honesty: Choosing overly positive feedback only when the truth hurts. [PDF]
Abstract In two studies (N = 886), we examined how individuals judge and select feedback providers for those who either handle criticism well or poorly after performing a low‐quality task. Prosocial liars who provided overly positive feedback, were judged as more moral than honest feedback providers.

Pollinator functional group abundance and floral heterogeneity in an agroecological context affect mating patterns in a self-incompatible wild plant. [PDF]
Using a farm‐scale experiment, we investigated how the mating outcomes (expected heterozygosity and paternity correlation) of Cyanus segetum in agroecological infrastructures (herbaceous field margins) are affected by the interplay between pollinator functional group abundance and, respectively, the relative maternal plant attractiveness and the local ...

Risk of invasive waterfowl interaction with poultry production: Understanding potential for avian pathogen transmission via species distribution models. [PDF]
Across the United States, poultry production can be a major economic activity; however, this industry is threatened by the introduction of waterfowl‐borne pathogens such as highly pathogenic avian influenza. Here, we assessed the risk of invasive waterfowl‐poultry interactions in Arkansas by comparing the density of poultry production sites (chicken ...

Symbolic belief in social cognition
Abstract Keeping track of what others believe is a central part of human social cognition. However, the social relevance of those beliefs can vary a great deal. Some belief attributions mostly tell us about what a person is likely to do next. Other belief attributions tell us more about a person's social identity.

Fostering and assessing student critical thinking: From theory to teaching practice
Abstract In an age of innovation and digitalisation, critical thinking has become one of the most valued skills in the labour market. This paper shows how teachers can empower students to develop their students' critical thinking. After recalling why critical thinking matters for democracy and the economy, a definition of critical thinking is outlined.

Abstract In the U.S., the COVID‐19 pandemic has been highly politicized and has been the subject of large‐scale media misinformation. Personal ideologies—including religiosity and political leanings (i.e., conservative, liberal)—have heavily guided responses to the pandemic, particularly in the Southern United States.

Stage 2 Registered Report: Propositional Thought Is Sufficient for Imaginal Extinction as Shown by Contrasting Participants With Aphantasia, Simulated Aphantasia, and Controls. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Imaginal exposure is a standard procedure of cognitive behavioral therapy for the treatment of anxiety and panic disorders. It is often used when in vivo exposure is not possible, too stressful for patients, or would be too expensive. The Bio‐Informational Theory implies that imaginal exposure is effective because of the perceptual proximity ...
