Synthetic Mucus Biomaterials Synergize with Antibiofilm Agents to Combat Pseudomonas aeruginosa Biofilms

Mucus‐inspired biomaterials are developed that inhibit biofilm formation and enhance dispersal when combined with DNase and/or α‐amylase. Hetero‐Bfrs, evolved from either a homo‐Bfr or Ftn by gene duplications, differ from homo‐Bfrs substantially in the mechanisms underpinning iron oxidation and reduction despite high similarity in overall structure.
