Occurrence of antifungal fluorescent Pseudomonas spp. on some horticultural and pastoral plants

New Zealand Journal of Crop and Horticultural Science, 1993
Abstract Fluorescent Pseudomonas spp. from 62 root, leaf, and fruit samples covering 24 horticultural crops, and 8 pastoral soil samples, were tested in vitro for their ability to inhibit the growth of five pathogenic fungi— Botrytis cinerea

Purification of siderophores from cultures of fluorescent Pseudomonas spp by ion-exchange chromatography

Soil Biology and Biochemistry, 1991
Abstract A technique is presented for the recovery of siderophores from culture supematants of fluorescent Pseudomonas spp. Siderophores produced in a modified succinate medium are purified by ion-exchange chromatography and, if needed, by subsequent acetone precipitation. Relative to alternative procedures commonly employed, the proposed method is

Fluorescent Pseudomonas spp. as biocontrol agents against forage legume root pathogenic fungi

Soil Biology and Biochemistry, 1998
Abstract Native fluorescent pseudomonads isolated from the rhizosphere of Lotus corniculatus were screened in vitro for their antagonistic activity against the phytopathogenic fungi Pythium ultimum and Rhizoctonia solani. About 12% of the bacterial isolates inhibited one or both fungi in vitro.

The Antagonistic Effects of Fluorescent Pseudomonas Spp. on Plant Growth and the Control of Softrot and Blackleg of Potato

1987
Fluorescent Pseudomonas spp. isolated from the surface of freshly harvested potato tubers showed antagonism to Erwinia carotovora subsp atroseptica (Eca) in King’s B medium. Eye plugs treated with the Pseudomonas spp. produced significantly (P < 0.05) taller stems than those produced by eye plugs inoculated with Eca.
