Somatosensory processing in long COVID fatigue and its relations with physiological and psychological factors

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract We aimed to quantify somatosensory processing in long COVID and interactions between somatosensory processing, fatigability, fatigue, autonomic function, mood and illness beliefs. Eighty‐eight participants (44 long COVID and 44 controls) were invited to complete two testing sessions, where fatigue was induced by either a cognitive or a ...

Novel Pseudorandom Number Generation Using Variant Logic Framework

open access: yesVariant Construction from Theoretical Foundation to Applications, 2018
Cybersecurity requires cryptology for the basic protection. Among different ECRYPT technologies, stream cipher plays a central role in advanced network security applications; in addition, pseudorandom number generators are placed in the core position of ...

Vibrotactile intensity perception: Predominant influence of afferents recruited remote from stimulus site

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend We delivered trains of brief mechanical pulses to the fingertips of subjects to investigate vibrotactile intensity perception. Some stimuli consisted of bursts of up to four pulses. Simulated responses of the tactile afferent population across the hand revealed that afferents innervating the skin directly under the probe reliably

Cryptographically secure pseudo-random number generation using a Robust Chaotic Tent Map: a novel approach

open access: yesCogent Engineering
Chaos, a nonlinear dynamical system, favors cryptography due to their inherent sensitive dependence on the initial condition, mixing, and ergodicity property.

Distinct effects of fibromyalgia pain, depression and anxiety on perception of affective touch and pain

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Patients with fibromyalgia (FM) and no‐pain controls completed questionnaire‐based ratings of chronic pain, childhood trauma, anxiety and depression. Brief touch stimuli were then administered, including slow brushing at the C‐tactile optimal velocity of 3 cm/s, deep oscillating pressure with a compression sleeve, roboticized ...

3D Cellular Automata of Polymer Structural Response to Solvent Quality

open access: yesMacromolecular Theory and Simulations, Volume 35, Issue 6, November 2026.
A minimal three‐dimensional cellular automaton captures solvent‐dependent polymer collapse, θ‐like scaling, swelling, and aggregation through simple local interaction rules. Radius‐of‐gyration scaling identifies the θ regime, while multichain simulations reveal that free chain ends and periodic self‐connection strongly govern structural reorganization,

An Improved Secure Blockchain‐Based Remote Patient Monitoring System With Role‐Based Access Control Using IPFS

open access: yesConcurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience, Volume 38, Issue 19, October 2026.
ABSTRACTThis work presents a privacy‐preserving remote healthcare system that integrates blockchain technology with a root seed‐based pseudonymization mechanism and lightweight cryptographic controls. Addressing the privacy risks of public ledgers and the limited computational resources of medical IoT devices, the proposed system focuses strictly on ...

Ghrelin Drives Food Intake by Attentional Bias Toward Food Cues

open access: yesComprehensive Physiology, Volume 16, Issue 5, October 2026.
Fasting and ghrelin enhanced engagement with food‐predictive cues in a home‐cage FED3 task, increasing correct and premature responses while reducing omissions. However, ghrelin preferentially increased food intake when food availability was signaled by a predictive cue, whereas fasting increased intake regardless of cue context.

Proposal for a digital pseudorandom number generator [PDF]

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1984
A digital hardware implementation of a linear congruential sequence generator using shift and add techniques of multiplication is described. The sequence is of long period, low serial correlation and is rectangularly distributed. The method has certain advantages over conventional feedback shift register techniques.
