Comparação fitossociológica entre duas amostragens numa área de clareira em anos consecutivos, Estação Biológica de Caratinga, MG Phytosociology comparing between two gaps in the Caratinga Biologic Station, Minas Gerais State

open access: yesActa Botânica Brasílica, 1993
A Estação Biológica de Caratinga encontra-se dentro do domínio Atlântico, sob um clima sazonal com uma estação úmida e quente (outubro-março) e outra seca e fria (abril-setembro). O solo é do tipo Latossolo Vermelho-Amarelo álico.

Tree canopy shapes the survival of oak and beech saplings during the regeneration stage along an elevation‐driven temperature gradient

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 7, July 2026.
Forests are complex, multilayered systems in which canopy cover strongly influences understorey microclimates. Here, we show that the temperature‐buffering effect of the forest canopy affects tree regeneration differently among species along an elevation gradient in the French Pyrenees.

High Resprouting of Plants Within 16 Months of Wildfire in a Dry Grassland in Aotearoa New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Botany, Volume 64, Issue 2, June 2026.
Wildfires are projected to increase in severity and frequency in dryland ecosystems due to climate change. To predict how plant communities will respond to these changes in wildfire patterns, it is vital to understand how plants establish following fire; such knowledge is limited in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The missing woodland story: Implications of 1700 years of stand‐scale change on ‘naturalness’ and managing remnant broadleaved woodlands

open access: yesPeople and Nature, Volume 8, Issue 6, Page 1572-1587, June 2026.
Abstract Longer‐term perspectives—equivalent to the lifespans of long‐lived trees—are required to fully inform perceptions of ‘naturalness’ used in woodland conservation and management. Stand‐scale dynamics of an old growth temperate woodland are reconstructed using palaeoecological data.

Assessing radio transmitter weight effect and evaluation of northern bobwhite chick survival in coastal North Carolina

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, Volume 50, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract Studies on the earliest life stages are essential to our ecological understanding of avian demography; however, monitoring technologies that allow tracking of small birds are still limited in a variety of ways. One critical limitation, until recently, has been the development of methods for attaching transmitters to young birds with precocial ...

Update of the Xylella spp. host plant database – Systematic literature search up to 31 December 2025

open access: yesEFSA Journal, Volume 24, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract This scientific report provides an update of the Xylella spp. host plant database, aiming to provide information and scientific support to risk assessors, risk managers and researchers dealing with Xylella spp. Upon a mandate of the European Commission, EFSA created and regularly updates a database of host plant species of Xylella spp.

Active interventions accelerate native plant recolonization following agricultural abandonment

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 5, May 2026.
Our results show that combined canopy thinning and prescribed burning can accelerate natural recolonization in savanna systems. However, additional measures (e.g. seed addition) may be needed for weak‐dispersing species. These findings highlight the utility of integrating passive processes with active interventions to conduct efficient landscape‐scale ...
