[PTH assay: whole PTH assay (new IRMA assay)].

Clinical calcium, 2005
The common intact-PTH assay detects not only PTH (1-84) but also PTH (7-84) fragment. Recently, it is reported that PTH (7-84) fragment is the antagonist to PTH (1-84) biological action. Thus, conventional intact-PTH assay might mislead the overestimation of parathyroid function in uremic patients.

[PTH preparations].

Nihon rinsho. Japanese journal of clinical medicine, 2016
Parathyroid hormone(PTH) is essential for maintaining serum calcium level. PTH increases serum calcium partly by enhancing bone resorption. Therefore, persistent excessive actions of PTH result in cortical bone loss by increased bone resorption. In contrast, intermittent injections of PTH preparations increase trabecular bone mainly by enhancing bone ...

PTH Substitution Therapy for Chronic Hypoparathyroidism: PTH 1–84 and Palopegteriparatide

Current Osteoporosis Reports
to describe and compare the efficacy and safety of the main PTH treatments, namely PTH(1-84) and palopegteriparatide, for the management of hypoparathyroidism.neither PTH (1-84) nor PTH(1-34) have been shown a clear and consistent favorable impact on the 24 h urinary calcium excretion normalization, while the positive effect on quality of life is still

[Significance of a new PTH assay (the comparison between whole-PTH and intact-PTH assay)].

Clinical calcium, 2005
It has been shown that intact-PTH assay measures not only full-length biologically active PTH with 84 amino acids, but also some PTH fragments such as (7-84) PTH. Whole-PTH assay is a new method believed to react only with (1-84) PTH. Because circulatory concentrations of various fragments of PTH are very high especially in patients with secondary ...

PTH revisited.

Kidney international. Supplement, 2005
Recent investigations of parathyroid hormone (PTH) have advanced our understanding of its circulating forms as well as its action. It is now clear that first-generation immunoradiometric assays of so-called intact "PTH" not only measured full-length PTH(1-84) but also recognized large PTH fragments lacking the amino-terminus.
