Geographical origin classification of olive oils by PTR-MS
Food Chemistry, 2008Abstract The volatile compositions of 192 olive oil samples from five different European countries were investigated by PTR-MS sample headspace analysis. The mass spectra of all samples showed many masses with high abundances, indicating the complex VOC composition of olive oil.

Quality control of a herb extract using PTR-MS
International Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2004Abstract We have developed an objective method for the determination of a herb extract's quality based on headspace measurements by proton-transfer-reaction mass spectrometry (PTR-MS); this quality was checked by a sensory analysis until now. This novel method enables the company ‘Bionorica’ to ensure that they are only selling high-quality products ...

Investigations on the variability of breath gas sampling using PTR-MS
Journal of Breath Research, 2009Breath gas analysis is a promising technology in the frame of medical diagnostics. By identifying disease-specific biomarkers in the breath of patients, a non-invasive and easy method for early diagnosis or therapy monitoring might be developed. However, to verify this potential and develop diagnostic tools based on breath gas analysis one essential ...

PTR-MS monitoring of odour emissions from composting plants
International Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2004Abstract We studied the possibility of monitoring with proton transfer reaction-mass spectrometry (PTR-MS) odours emitted in various situations related to composting plants of municipal solid waste (MSW), i.e., waste storage, waste management, and biofilters.

Headspace measurements of irradiated in vitro cultured cells using PTR-MS
Radiation and Environmental Biophysics, 2010A pilot study was performed to evaluate a new concept for a radiation biodosimetry method. Proton transfer reaction-mass spectrometry (PTR-MS) was used to find out whether radiation induces changes in the composition of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the headspace of in vitro cultured cells.

Real-time monitoring of removal of trace compounds with PTR-MS: Biochar experimental investigation
Renewable Energy, 2018The removal of trace compounds contained in a biogas from the dry anaerobic digestion of organic waste was accomplished. The resulting data were monitored online with a direct injection mass spectrometry technique. Biochar from the pyrolysis of recovered

PTR-MS in enology: Advances in analytics and data analysis
International Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2007Abstract The present communication deals with the improvement of proton transfer reaction mass spectrometry (PTR-MS) wine headspace analyses. In contrast to previous PTR-MS investigations of wine, where wine headspace was ionized by protonated ethanol clusters, the headspace was diluted by a factor of 1:40 with N2 and ionized by H3O+ ions.
