MiRNA expression as outcome predictor in pediatric AML: systematic evaluation of a new model

open access: yesnpj Genomic Medicine
Accurately predicting patient outcomes is essential for optimizing treatment and improving outcomes in pediatric acute myeloid leukemia (AML). In recent years, microRNAs have emerged as a promising prognostic marker, with a growing body of evidence ...

Isolation of Murine Adipose Tissue-derived Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (mASCs) and the Analysis of Their Proliferation in vitro

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2015
Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) are non-hematopoietic, perivascular cells which support hematopoiesis and are thought to participate in tissue repair in vivo.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Crosstalk Between Autophagy and Oxidative Stress in Hematological Malignancies: Mechanisms, Implications, and Therapeutic Potential

open access: yesAntioxidants
Autophagy is a fundamental cellular process that maintains homeostasis by degrading damaged components and regulating stress responses. It plays a crucial role in cancer biology, including tumor progression, metastasis, and therapeutic resistance ...

Thermodynamics, phase transitions and Ruppeiner geometry for Einstein-dilaton Lifshitz black holes in the presence of Maxwell and Born-Infeld electrodynamics

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, we first obtain the ($n+1$)-dimensional dilaton-Lifshitz black hole (BH) solutions in the presence of Born-Infeld (BI) electrodynamics.

Tumor‐stromal crosstalk and macrophage enrichment are associated with chemotherapy response in bladder cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Chemoresistance in bladder cancer: Macrophage recruitment associated with CXCL1, CXCL5 and CXCL8 expression is characteristic of Gemcitabine/Cisplatin (Gem/Cis) Non‐Responder tumors (right side) while Responder tumors did not show substantial tumor‐stromal crosstalk (left side). All biological icons are attributed to Bioicons: carcinoma, cancerous‐cell‐

Validation of ITPR2, DPF3, EPAS1, and PVT1-associated SNPs as biomarkers for RCC in an independent case-control cohort

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
IntroductionRenal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a heterogeneous malignancy influenced by genetic and environmental factors. Previous genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have identified risk single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) associated with RCC ...

Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Information geometric methods for complexity

open access: yes, 2018
Research on the use of information geometry (IG) in modern physics has witnessed significant advances recently. In this review article, we report on the utilization of IG methods to define measures of complexity in both classical and, whenever available,

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...
