The pubertal growth spurt is diminished in children with severe obesity
Yearbook of Paediatric Endocrinology, 2020At the population level, there is a negative linear correlation between childhood body mass index (BMI) and pubertal height gain. However, in children with obesity, there are no studies showing whether the severity of obesity affects pubertal height gain.

Dental emergence stages and the pubertal growth spurt
Acta Odontologica Scandinavica, 1981Longitudinal data on emergence of permanent teeth and pubertal growth in body height were collected as part of a prospective study of the growth and development of 212 randomly selected Swedish urban children. The onset, peak and end of the pubertal growth spurt were defined on the unsmoothed incremental curve of height.

Body representation does not lag behind in updating for the pubertal growth spurt [PDF]
Both making perceptual judgments about your own body and successfully moving your body through the world depend on a mental representation of the body. However, there are indications that moving might be challenging when your body is changing. For instance, the pubertal growth spurt has been reported to be negatively correlated to motor competence.

A practical method for determining pubertal growth spurt
American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 2006It is important to evaluate skeletal maturation in orthodontic treatment. Hand-wrist and cervical maturation stages have been shown to be correlated with skeletal growth changes during puberty. The cervical vertebrae have 6 maturation phases, whereas the medial phalange of the third finger has 5 stages; a modified version has 6 stages.

The ‘muscle-bone unit’ during the pubertal growth spurt
Bone, 2004Mechanostat theory postulates that developmental changes in bone strength are secondary to the increasing loads imposed by larger muscle forces. Therefore, the increase in muscle strength should precede the increase in bone strength. We tested this prediction using densitometric surrogate measures of muscle force (lean body mass, LBM) and bone strength

Growth of lung and thorax dimensions during the pubertal growth spurt
European Respiratory Journal, 1988In the follow-up study of adolescents residual volume (RV), vital capacity (VC), closing volume (CV), thorax height and thorax width were measured at six month intervals over a six year period; 149 girls and 477 boys, whose ages ranged between 11.5 and 18.5 yr during the follow-up, were investigated.

Delayed spontaneous pubertal growth spurt in girls with the Ullrich-Turner syndrome
American Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, 1991AbstractBy means of an appropriate mathematical model (Sager's 2‐components‐concept) a delayed spontaneous pubertal growth spurt can be demonstrated in girls with 45, X Ullrich‐Turner syndrome (UTS) (n1 = 45) as well as in those with 45, X/46,XX mosaicism (n2 = 14) never treated with any growth stimulating drug. On the average, this growth spurt begins

Spontaneous growth in turner syndrome: Evidence for a minor pubertal growth spurt
European Journal of Pediatrics, 1992Spontaneous growth of 141 untreated girls with Turner syndrome was analysed. Of the patients 25% were born prematurely; their weight and height were normal when compared to prematurely born healthy infants. However, birth weight and height was significantly retarded in Turner patients born at term.
