Steroid-related pubic symphysis diastasis in recreational horse riders
European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology, 2009Wide diastasis of the pubic symphysis is generally secondary to high energy trauma. Slight separation of the pubic symphysis can be seen when pubic ligamentous laxity or consistency is altered in specific situations namely during vaginal delivery, and in elderly rheumatoid patients receiving long-term corticosteroid therapy after minor injuries.

Herniation of the bladder after recurrent pubic symphysis diastasis
European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology, 2010Bladder and urethral injuries are relatively common complications of pelvic trauma; however, bladder herniation into a pubic symphysis diastasis is an unusual sequelae of such trauma. The case reported here is that of a patient in whom the initial open-book type fracture of the pelvic ring with a major pubic diastasis was treated with external fixator.

Internal fixation of pubic symphysis diastasis with a tension banding technique
Injury, 1990We present the details of a method of internally fixing diastasis of the pubic symphysis with stout wires and a tension band which can be employed with speed and ease, through a minimal exposure or minimally extended laparotomy wound. The technique is suitable for those with little experience of internal fixation of the pelvis.

Spontaneous pubic symphysial diastasis following vaginal delivery.
African journal of medicine and medical sciences, 2003Public symphysis diastasis is an uncommon condition which is caused mostly by severe trauma like road traffic accidents and fall from heights. We present cases of pubic symphysis diastasis following spontaneous vaginal delivery. This is to reiterate the fact that this type of public symphysis diastasis is different from other types of traumatic pubic ...

Locking and nonlocking plate fixation pubic symphysis diastasis management.
American journal of orthopedics (Belle Mead, N.J.), 2013We evaluated the stability of locking and nonlocking plate fixation of the pubic symphysis in a cadaveric model of an unstable pelvic injury. Five fresh cadaver pelves--intact and with an unfixed simulated Tile B injury--were tested under compressive load simulating a 2-legged stance. On each pelvis, 3 pubic symphysis fixation constructs were tested: a
