Loss of proton‐sensing GPR4 reduces tumor progression in mouse models of colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
G protein‐coupled receptor 4 (GPR4) is a pH‐sensing receptor activated by acidic pH. GPR4 expression is increased in patients with inflammatory bowel disease who are at high risk of developing colorectal cancer. In mouse models, loss of GPR4 attenuated tumor progression. This correlated with increased IL2 and natural killer cell activity.

Cross-Modal Vertical Federated Learning for MRI Reconstruction [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Federated learning enables multiple hospitals to cooperatively learn a shared model without privacy disclosure. Existing methods often take a common assumption that the data from different hospitals have the same modalities. However, such a setting is difficult to fully satisfy in practical applications, since the imaging guidelines may be different ...

Systematic profiling of cancer‐fibroblast interactions reveals drug combinations in ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Fibroblasts, cells in the tumor environment, support ovarian cancer cell growth and alter morphology and drug response. We used fibroblast and cancer cell co‐culture models to test 528 drugs and discovered new drugs for combination treatment. We showed that adding Vorinostat or Birinapant to standard chemotherapy may improve drug response, suggesting ...

Case-level Breast Cancer Prediction for Real Hospital Settings [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Breast cancer prediction models for mammography assume that annotations are available for individual images or regions of interest (ROIs), and that there is a fixed number of images per patient. These assumptions do not hold in real hospital settings, where clinicians provide only a final diagnosis for the entire mammography exam (case).
