Development of a temporal and spatial linkage between transit demand and land-use patterns

open access: yesJournal of Transport and Land Use, 2013
We are exploring ways to capture the temporal and spatial dimensions of the use of public transit. Specifically, we are investigating how different land uses affect the spatial and temporal demand for public transit services.

Improving the Distribution of Densities in Southern California  [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Many of the biggest transportation challenges in Southern California arise not due to its overall density but due to the lack of concentration of densities.

Predicting the Future Burden of Renal Replacement Therapy in Türkiye Using National Registry Data and Comparative Modeling Approaches

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic kidney disease is a growing public health problem worldwide, and the number of patients requiring renal replacement therapy is steadily increasing. Türkiye has experienced a similar rise in both the incidence and prevalence of renal replacement therapy over the past decades; however, national‐level projections of future ...

Transportation assimilation revisited: New evidence from repeated cross-sectional survey data. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Based on single cross-sectional data, prior research finds evidence of "transportation assimilation" among U.S. immigrants: the length of stay in the U.S. is negatively correlated with public transit use.

Improving Demand Modeling in California\u27s Rail Transit System [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
This paper analyzes urban rail-fare elasticity and compares the results across four California transit systems. A method of Internet search is adopted to collect monthly transit-fare records from 2002 to 2013.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

California Voting and Suburbanization Patterns: Implications for Transit Policy, MTI Report 12-05 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Public transit is an environmentally friendly transportation mode that usually focuses on transporting people within and to the city center. However, over the last 60 years, population and employment has been suburbanizing.

An intracellular transporter mitigates the CO2‐induced decline in iron content in Arabidopsis shoots

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study identifies a gene encoding a transmembrane protein, MIC, which contributes to the reduction of shoot Fe content observed in plants under elevated CO2. MIC is a putative Fe transporter localized to the Golgi and endosomal compartments. Its post‐translational regulation in roots may represent a potential target for improving plant nutrition ...

What do Americans Think About Federal Tax Options to Support Public Transit, Highways, and Local Streets and Roads? Results from Year Four of a National Survey, MTI Report 12-07 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This report summarizes the results of year four of a national random-digit-dial public opinion poll asking 1,501 respondents if they would support various tax options for raising federal transportation revenues, with a special focus on understanding ...
