Genetic Algorithm and ANN for Estimation of SPIV of Micro Beams [PDF]
In this paper, the static pull-in instability (SPIV) of beam-type micro-electromechanical systems is theoretically investigated. Herein, modified strain gradient theory in conjunction with Euler–Bernoulli beam theory have been used for mathematical ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Pull-in voltage of microswitch rough plates in the presence of electromagnetic and acoustic Casimir forces [PDF]
In this work, we investigate the combined influence of electromagnetic and acoustic Casimir forces on the pull-in voltage of microswitches with self-affine rough plates.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Bidirectional push–pull/H‐bridge converter for low‐voltage energy storage system
A bidirectional push–pull/H‐bridge DC/DC converter for a low‐voltage energy storage system is proposed in this paper. It comprises the push–pull converter, the phase‐shifted H‐bridge converter, and the transformer. The push–pull converter is connected to

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Pull-in Analysis of CMUT Elements
This paper presents a novel characterization method for the pull-in voltage of a Capacitive Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducer (CMUT) element. The presented method allows pull-in estimation of all CMUT cells contained in an element, which is in contrast

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Microbeam pull-in voltage topology optimization including material deposition constraint [PDF]
peer reviewedBecause of the strong coupling between mechanical and electrical phenomena existing in electromechanical microdevices, some of them experience, above a given driving voltage, an unstable behavior called pull-in effect.
