Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Pull-down analysis of PDRG1 interaction with MATα2 and MAT II.

open access: yes, 2016
(A) Representative western blots of pull-down experiments using glutathione Sepharose beads loaded with GST or GST-PDRG1 and recombinant MATα2, MATβ or the hetero-oligomer MAT II; anti-GST, anti-MATα2 and MATβ were used for detection.

Biomechanical Design and Validation of a Novel Elliptical Sleeve Pedicle Screw for Enhanced Spinal Fixation Stability

open access: yesBioengineering
This study aimed to develop a novel modular pedicle screw system incorporating an elliptical sleeve to conform the pedicle’s elliptical cross-section and enhance fixation strength with mechanical stability.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Pull-out strengths of GFRP-concrete bond exposed to applied environmental conditions

open access: yes, 2017
This paper presents results of an experimental investigation on the behaviour of bond between external glass fibre reinforced polymer reinforcement and concrete exposed to three different environmental conditions, namely, temperature cycles, wet–dry ...

ON ELECTRONS THAT ARE “PULLED OUT” FROM METALS [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 1929
The work(1) done by Millikan and his co-laborers, Eyring and Lauritsen, on the subject of "pulling" electrons out of metals has attracted much well-merited attention, but in the present paper I shall undertake to discuss certain aspects of this matter which I have not seen presented in print.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Pull in and Push Out: Mechanisms of Horizontal Gene Transfer in Bacteria

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2018
Horizontal gene transfer (HGT) plays an important role in bacterial evolution. It is well accepted that DNA is pulled/pushed into recipient cells by conserved membrane-associated DNA transport systems, which allow the entry of only single-stranded DNA ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
