Calibration of Pull-Out tests on Historical-like Concrete

Materials and Structures, 2021
The compressive strength of concrete in existing r.c. structures may be estimated by means of Non-Destructive and Moderately Destructive techniques. While a large bibliography is available for “modern concrete”, for historical concrete, produced in the pre-code period till the ‘20 s, the task is more complex due to lack of standardization, improper ...

Interfaces Studied by Electromechanical Pull-Out Testing

MRS Proceedings, 1996
ABSTRACTThe experimental technique of electromechanical pull-out testing is introduced to study the interface between fiber and matrix. The technique involves measuring both the contact electrical resistivity and the shear bond strength of a fiber-matrix interface.

Load Transfer Mechanism in Pull-Out Tests

Geosynthetics International, 1997
This paper presents a numerical method to predict soil-geotextile interface friction parameters. A strain softening model was used to simulate the relationship between shear stress and horizontal displacement at the soil-geotextile interface. Pull-out tests were performed on two types of geotextile, with different tensile stiffnesses, embedded in a ...

Detailed analysis of the fibre pull-out test

Journal of Materials Science, 1996
A detailed finite element analysis has been carried out to simulate the fibre pull-out test. The fibre-matrix interface was assumed to obey a Coulomb friction law. Special attention was focused on the effect of residual thermal stresses. An approximate analytical solution, rather similar to those in the literature, was derived.

Pull-Out Tests on Injected Anchors in Tuff Masonry Elements

Key Engineering Materials, 2017
In this paper the results of pull-out tests on several types of injected anchors embedded in masonry elements made of yellow tuff are described and compared. Several bonded lengths and configuration of the masonry elements were considered in the tests. In particular, pull-out tests of anchors installed in single tuff stones were carried out in order to

Screw fixation in the femoral head: Pull-out tests in cadavers

Acta Orthopaedica Scandinavica, 1988
The aim of our study was to determine whether a subchondral or a capital position of the thread of the gliding screw provided the best fixation. A pull-out test was performed on pairs of femoral neck cadaver specimens. The capital position of the thread provided the best fixation in all the pairs. A correlation was found between bone mineral content of

Why do Shear Bond Tests Pull Out Dentin?

Journal of Dental Research, 1997
It is widely accepted that a dentin shear bond test which pulls out dentin must mean that the adhesive strength is superior to the cohesive strength of the dentin. Using numerical modeling techniques, Van Noort et al. (1988,1989) and DeHoff et al. (1995) alerted the scientific community that there were massive stress concentrations in the familiar ...

Testing and predicting of yarn pull-out in aroma-textile

International Journal of Clothing Science and Technology, 2017
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to predict the pull-out force of loop pile of ramie/cotton terry woven fabrics treated with aroma-microcapsules as well as to understand and to interpret the pull-out behaviour developing the mathematical model. Design/methodology/approach The displacements and forces associated with pulling a yarn from different

Cord Pull-Out Tests: 3D Finite Element Simulations

Polymers and Polymer Composites, 2000
Cord pull-out tests were simulated using a three-dimensional micromechanical finite element developed for cord-rubber composites. The simulation model integrates a solid rubber element and a cord element. The effect of cord shape on the interface stresses was examined.
