Effects of Noninvasive Respiratory Support on Ventilation Distribution During Spontaneous Breathing Sedation in Preschool/School‐Aged Children: An Electrical Impedance Tomography Study

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia, Volume 35, Issue 7, Page 562-572, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Procedural sedation interferes with respiratory dynamics in pediatric patients. It reduces lung compliance, causing the closing volume to exceed the functional residual capacity, which can result in airway collapse, atelectasis, and periods of silent desaturation.

Contemporary Concise Review 2024: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

open access: yesRespirology, Volume 30, Issue 7, Page 574-586, July 2025.
SUMMARY OF KEY POINTS Non‐smoking COPD is common in LMICs, especially in women. Biomass fuel and air pollution are major risk factors with distinct pathophysiology. The ‘eosinophilic’ endotype in COPD is biologically distinct from asthma. PRISm, FEV1/FVC Z‐scores, and quantitative CT improve early COPD detection.

open access: yesTransfusion, Volume 65, Issue 7, Page 1251-1263, July 2025.
Abstract Background Transfusion‐associated circulatory overload (TACO) accounts for 35% of transfusion‐related fatalities. Previous pre‐clinical studies explored plasma and red blood cell transfusion in TACO, but the effect of platelets remains unexplored.

Computed Tomographic and Clinical Findings in Domestic Rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus domesticus) with Pulmonary Emphysema

open access: yesVeterinary Radiology &Ultrasound, Volume 66, Issue 4, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Pulmonary emphysema (PE) is a poorly understood condition in rabbits. This retrospective case‐control study investigated the CT and clinical findings of rabbits with PE. Institutional archive review identified 724 thoracic CT studies of 529 rabbits, including 76 PE‐positive studies of 59/529 rabbits. Twenty‐five PE‐negative cases were selected
