Establishment of rat model for aspiration pneumonia and potential mechanisms
Aspiration pneumonia was induced in Sprague Dawley rats by intratracheal instillation of hydrochloric acid (HCl, 1.5 μL/g.wt, pH = 1) followed by lipopolysaccharide (LPS, 20 μg/g.wt) after 1 h. The model reproduced hallmark features of acute lung injury, including histological lung damage, microvascular dysfunction, inflammation, hypoxemia, and ...

Self-adaptive vision-language model for 3D segmentation of pulmonary artery and vein [PDF]
Accurate segmentation of pulmonary structures iscrucial in clinical diagnosis, disease study, and treatment planning. Significant progress has been made in deep learning-based segmentation techniques, but most require much labeled data for training. Consequently, developing precise segmentation methods that demand fewer labeled datasets is paramount in

Progress in research on osteoporosis secondary to SARS‐CoV‐2 infection
This review explores the potential mechanisms, complications, risk factors, and future research directions related to osteoporosis secondary to SARS‐CoV‐2 infection. Key mechanisms include an imbalance between osteoclast and osteoblast activity driven by direct viral effects on bone, inflammation, hypoxia, dysregulation of noncoding RNAs, and metabolic

Unilateral, minimally invasive, renal arterial embolization and delayed contralateral nephrectomy was described in cats as a novel remnant kidney model of chronic kidney disease using two doses of embolic particles. Renal function declined and characteristic histopathological markers of kidney disease were present 6 months after the embolism procedure.

An optimized perfusate for enhanced rat ex vivo lung perfusion and lung transplant models
We explored a low‐cost and efficient perfusate composition for use in rat ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) and lung transplant models. This perfusate demonstrates better biocompatibility, likely due to a reduction in immune responses associated with high doses of xenogenic proteins, resulting in less lung injury posttransplantation.

KLF4 (Krüppel‐like factor 4) plays a protective role in blood–brain barrier (BBB). KLF4 plays an ambiguous role in the central nervous system. KLF4 in the BBB endothelial cells could be a potential target for Alzheimer's disease. Abstract Alzheimer's disease is the most prevalent chronic neurodegenerative disorder worldwide, with no sufficient cure ...

TabMixer: Noninvasive Estimation of the Mean Pulmonary Artery Pressure via Imaging and Tabular Data Mixing [PDF]
Right Heart Catheterization is a gold standard procedure for diagnosing Pulmonary Hypertension by measuring mean Pulmonary Artery Pressure (mPAP). It is invasive, costly, time-consuming and carries risks. In this paper, for the first time, we explore the estimation of mPAP from videos of noninvasive Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
