Pulmonary Artery Catheterization

Critical Care Clinics, 1992
After two decades, hemodynamic invasive monitoring using a flow-directed, balloon-tipped, pulmonary artery (PA) catheter has established itself as a significant component of acute clinical care. In spite of continued recommendations for limitations, restrictions, moratoria, and even abandonment, growth in catheter use continues.

Pulmonary arterial banding

The American Journal of Cardiology, 1970
Surgical creation of pulmonary stenosis has become well established as palliative treatment for the infant with a large left to right shunt at the ventricular level and refractory congestive heart failure. The procedure has also been shown to be useful in the palliation of otherwise irreparable defects that cause high levels of pressure and flow in the

Occult Pulmonary Artery

Clinical Nuclear Medicine, 1996
A 1-month old infant girl was noted to have a right-sided aortic arch on chest x-ray. Nuclear perfusion examination showed markedly decreased flow to the left lung. Given the presence of pulmonary vasculature on the chest film, occult pulmonary artery was suspected and confirmed by angiography.

Pulmonary artery sling

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1992
Eighteen patients who underwent surgical treatment of pulmonary artery sling at this institution since 1969 were reviewed. Four of them had associated tracheal stenoses produced by complete cartilaginous rings (stovepipe trachea). All patients underwent operation. The median age at operation was 180 days (range, 27 days to 54 months).

Pulmonary artery catheter

Best Practice & Research Clinical Anaesthesiology, 2014
Since its inception, the pulmonary artery catheter has enjoyed widespread use in both medical and surgical critically ill patients. It has also endured criticism and skepticism about its benefit in these patient populations. By providing information such as cardiac output, mixed venous oxygen saturation, and intracardiac pressures, the pulmonary artery

Pulmonary Artery Calcification

Scottish Medical Journal, 1972
Pulmonary artery calcification detected radiologically is invariably associated with the Eisenmenger Syndrome. Its appearance is relatively uncommon and 4 further cases are described. It is suggested that the relative rarity of the cases of pulmonary artery calcification in this syndrome is due to the fact that the majority of patients die before the ...
