Invasive fungal infections in solid organ transplant recipients are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Of these fungal infections, mucormycosis presents as an aggressive, frequently fatal angioinvasive infection. Immunocompromised hosts and diabetes are important risk factors. These infections are frequently difficult to diagnose.
