Free‐Breathing Magnetization Transfer Imaging of the Lung at 0.55 T Using bSTAR

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To develop a clinically applicable method for magnetization transfer (MT) imaging of the lung at 0.55 T. Methods MT imaging of the chest was explored in healthy volunteers at 0.55 T using a self‐gated 3D half‐radial dual‐echo balanced steady‐state free precession sequence (bSTAR), a 2D multi‐slice gradient echo method (GRE) acquired in

5D Flow MRI Reveals Respiration‐Driven Changes in Blood Flow Energetics in Congenital Heart Disease

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Hemodynamic monitoring is essential for patients with right‐sided congenital heart disease (CHD). Respiration may have an increased impact on pulmonary flow in these patients that cannot be assessed by standard tools including 4D flow MRI. This study uses 5D flow MRI to assess respiratory‐cycle variations in flow energetics in patients

Risdiplam Add‐On Therapy Following Onasemnogene Abeparvovec in Children With Spinal Muscular Atrophy and 2 SMN2 Copies: A Multi‐Center Case Series

open access: yesMuscle &Nerve, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction/Aims Three disease‐modifying therapies are approved for individuals with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA); however, data concerning the combination of these therapies remain limited. This study aimed to evaluate the safety and efficacy of add‐on risdiplam in children who had experienced clinical deterioration despite gene therapy ...

PULMONARY VENTILATION IN PREGNANCY*

BJOG: An International Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 1978
SummarySerial tests of ventilatory function were made in 38 normal primigravidae during and after pregnancy. During pregnancy all patients showed major changes in tidal volume, functional residual capacity and residual volume. Minor changes were found in many other measurements, all of which occurred at an early stage of pregnancy.

Pulmonary Ventilation during Hemodialysis

Nephron, 1982
During hemodialysis a decrease in pulmonary ventilation has been reported. The elimination of CO2 across the dialyzer has been suggested as the cause of the pulmonary hypoventilation. Our purpose was to analyze the factors that could have influenced the pulmonary ventilation of 7 patients with chronic renal failure during hemodialysis, performed ...

Pulmonary mechanics during mechanical ventilation

Respiratory Physiology & Neurobiology, 2012
The use of mechanical ventilation has become widespread in the management of hypoxic respiratory failure. Investigations of pulmonary mechanics in this clinical scenario have demonstrated that there are significant differences in compliance, resistance and gas flow when compared with normal subjects.

Psychophysiologic Studies of Pulmonary Ventilation

Psychosomatic Medicine, 1964
In a group of 22 subjects, action-oriented behavior has been correlated with hyperventilation in 20 subjects in response to short-term adverse life situations. Seven of the 22 subjects were found to hypoventilate in response to short-term adverse life situations to which they reacted with ...
